hi,
just got my Cupra TDI on Saturday, but the instruction book is in Dutch ! Guess where the car came from.

What happens when i lock the car with the key ring remote then push the lock button again ?

What is that switch for on the drivers side bottom door trim, it has a picture of something on it ?

Hope somebody knows !!

Regards to all you Cupra drivers, (and would be drivers)

as for the book ,sk ya local dealer for one ,or to order one , and the switch is to turn OFF the ultrasonics side of the alarm so you can leave a dog, kids, granny in it etc

as for double pressin the button ,it just locks it again , nowt else ,??? I THINK ???

i think if you push the button once it double locks, push twice within two seconds and it only single locks, you can test to check by lowering windows and reaching in to unlock door from inside, hope this helps.By the way, the english manual takes some understanding!

I think that when the remote button is pushed twice it switches the alarm off. You will find that when the button is pushed twice the flashing LED on the drivers door will go out.

Lee,

You're not wrong. The word processor they used didn't have a very good search and replace option. The amount of time it says something like "If the TCS warning light doesn't go out then get to your Volkswagon dealer " http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/rolleyes.gif

Cheers
Andy

Hi cupra_pilot!

Nice car eh http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif ? I own one myselve to; got it exactly two weeks ago today. 3200 km on the meter now http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif !

Please, Be aware to do the first 2000 km very easy. Dont go further than half/3-quarter of gas. Do not exceed the 3500 RPM.

I didn't and now I got the feeling that it performs a bit less! (but that could be me getting used to the push as well)

Also beware for the ESP; it's kind of spooky sometimes! I turn it off directly after having started the car!

MOST IMPORTANT: USE THE CORRECT OIL! Type: VW 505 01!!!

Don't use anything different eventhough there is nothing else available. But you should be able of getting it at every good VW dealer.

Answer to your questions:

Quoted from the book page 2.35 (Yes, I'm dutch and I can translate as you wish...)
'When clicking button 2 twice you will deactivate security and alarmsystem*. The deactivation is shown by short blinking of all your direction-lights (I mean the yellow lights you turn on when you want to corner, what are those called in English??)

Don't know what the asterisk means; An alarmsystem might be just an option and not stock! I didn't have a try to steal my car yet to test it http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif .

About that button on the door:
I don't exactly know what button you mean because there is more than one there:

Buttons A and B at page 2.29 respectivly
lock and unlock all doors.

Button 3 at page 2.37 (I assume you mean this button) is the window-security switch. You can disable the window controlbuttons of the rear-doors. Usefull if you got children who tend to open the window and climb out of it while going 180 km/h http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif .

PLEASE, go easy the first 2000km. Don't screw up that 150+(!!!!) HP Engine. It's hard not to try the car, but it will be worth it very much I think!

HAVE FUN. At least as much as I have http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif .

BTW, I don't think there is a real cupra manual. The cupra is just dressed with all goodie options.

Furthermore: Get UPsoluted!
Get a PiperCross Air Sucker, and have a bigger (2.5") exhaust pipe installed from engine. Also have a look at tdi club (http://www.tdiclub.com)

Then you'll see about 185HP and 420Nm of Torque! I assume it will do 0-100 in about 7 secs then (V6 like). And don't think off mid range sprints, it will scare you!

I'll have bought a PiperCross already, still must install it though, Sept the 11th a new Exhaust system, Sept the 24th I get UPsoluted (finally).

hi Danny,

I have 800Km on the clock, i have to admit that i have hit 4000 rpm once or twice, but i do try to keep below 3500 (this is over 180kmh in 6 gear !), but some times i can't resist overtaking that BMW in front, you know the feeling. Thanks for the info on the alarm, i think you are right because the light does stop flashing on the door lock. The switch i was talking about was not *on* the door itself but rather at the bottom right next to the seat on the door trim (but inside the body of the car) if you understand what i am tring to say. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/confused.gif

My car is black, i ordered heated seats, but otherwise standard trim. Those 225 45 17 tires look great don't they http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/tongue.gif

Do you mean at the right of the driver's seat or at the left? Is it on the dashboard, the Recaro or below the steeringwheel. Do you know the manual page it's described on?

I can't find what you mean here....

P.S. Why didn't you buy the car in Germany? I thought it is available there?

Pushing a BMW is cool! Unless it's a 330d...
Those are fast!

hi danny,

only availiable after new year in Germany.

So you're sitting in the drivers seat you put your left hand down between the door and the seat, towards the rear of the seat area (where that leaver for pumping the seat up joins the seat). And on the trim on the pillar of the door jam at the bottom is an (illuminated) switch, with some sort of picture on it. Thats the one i mean. Sorry no book here at the moment, If we are getting nowhere then i'll check out the page number tonight. When i press the switch absolutely nothing happens, nothing, not even a beep, or a light, just nothing. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/frown.gif

Well,

I can't have a look now (I'm at work) but I'll get back to you tonight.

Must say I haven't noticed that button yet myself; first enjoy driving the car, then read the manual afterwards http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif .

Cupra_pilot,

I found the switch! And after browsing the manual for a while I know what it is for too.

It's described at page 2.33:

When you push this button at least one second it deactivates the alarm's ultrasonic sensor. However, it only works directly after opening the drivers door and having removed the key from that door.

According to the manual, the alarmsystem is stock afterall. When it goes off the lights will flash and your claxon 'honks'.
