Well, modding 'weekend' number four has been and gone (OK it was a Wednesday!), and Sooty has MORE POWER, MORE SOOT and it was done, as usual, on the cheap!
Read about it here: http://www.driveforward.com/motoring/fae_sootysmoddingweekends_04.htm
Here's a tempter of what I did:

Bring on the January RR!
I was wondering when you were gonna post up about it!
It will be great to see the VAG-COM results when you get them done mate!
This would indeed be intresting to know the performance.. even tho the box is essentially making the ECU overfuel the engine.

Yup, I think 25-30% is optimistic, but there is definately a difference. I intend to do a VAG Com run soon to get a rough idea.
It is weird, and I've been asking myself this: How on earth does it increase mpg when more fuel is being used!?
Colin, I thought exactly the same thing but Ian has told me he has seen the MPG go up as a result of fitting it.
I know Ian's working it out manually as well as I have been unsure. I do look forward to the results though, as I know how much it cost, it might make a sensible mod :)
AFAIK the tuning of a PD engine be it via chip, remap, or box is more about changing fueling than increasing boost. Obviously not all companies change the same parameters, but PD already come with high boost to start with, so biggest change is in the fueling.
As for why you get higher mpg. Since your producing more torque you'll have to depress the accelerator a bit less to maintain the same speed.

And you can hold higher gears where you might have changed down before...

Ian
It will be very interesting to see what the RR shows, people have been put off by the fact these boxes are so cheap - if they turn out to be good I'm sure there'll be more customers on the way at that price !
As yours was showing over 150bhp anyway (was it your car that the turbo had been fiddled with?) you should be looking at quite an impressive figure.
When/where is this RR day ?
hmm looks interesting, glad someone actually bought one to see if they were dodgy or not.
anyway, so does it just have one connection that plugs into the fuel temp sensor? wonder how that works then? (paulo?)

Yup the turbo had been tinkered with :p
It's at Stealth on the 25th (i think) of Jan. See the thread here: http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25407
Stew: Yeah, well after reading his ebay feedback, and for £45 I thought "it can't do much harm!"
Yup, you just unplug the existing connection and fit the box "in between". He also sells boxes for standard TDI's for the same sort of prices
I think most boxes are basically an "EVRY" mod. I've seen a couple of diagrams that work with the output from the MAF to adjust resistance (think it's pin 6 on the MAF plug).
Obviously not just 2 resisters + plugs, but that's the basic circuit setup.

What was the outcome of your mpg so far...Is the trip computer just "reporting" better economy or are you getting more miles per tank...I would buy a box if people didnt keep on out bidding me....
can you do this mod on top of REVO?

Yup the MPG is improved, see my post here http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?threadid=25900
Revo: Not sure about that, perhaps you should post the question the revo forum. Personally as both increase fuelling it could be a risky option, but I'm no techie so better ask the guys in the know!

just out of interest did you put a meter across the leads (end to end)? I expect one pair would give no resistance, the other measurement would be the interesting one. cheers Nic

Nope, but I do intend investigating what's in side the box so may try that at the same time :)
