I was at Star Performance on Saturday to get to the bottom of a strange noise that my car was making, and have my car on the dyno. (Dyno results and plot in that section!)

Anyway, while I was there Jim Curley offered me a spin in his own APR Chipped 20V Turbo Beeza, of course I jumped at the chance to drive this motor! He set the chip to standard mode via the cruise control stalk (which was wired with a custom addition to the loom that Star make up themselves!!) to let me get a feel for the standard car, this felt like a standard turbo Ibiza, quick but not mental. Once we were on the road for a couple of miles he put the car into chipped mode (200BHP). All I can say is F**King hell, what a transformation, the car feels ridiculously fast, huge acceleration in 2nd 3rd and 4th!! I didn’t want my own car back after driving this thing! I tell you the Smileometer was way off the scale!

One of the best features of the APR set up is that it is fully programmable for new situations, i.e a new program can be entered for when Optimax fuel is used that adjusts the timing to suit the higher Octane rating of the fuel. My favourite thing though is the option to enter a 'Pin' code to switch on your tasty 200Bhp, this way you can hand your car to the garage (or Girlfriend!) and not worry about them abusing your nice chipped motor.

Give Jim a call at Star right now (01592) 770377 if you have a 20V turbo car (8 & 16V is a no go) and get yourself this set up, you will forever thanketh me!!!!

Gerry.

I was down at star performance today and Jim gave me a run in his car. f***ing hell,I have to get one of these cars. I've never driven the turbo Ibiza before so I thought it was pretty quick when it was in standard mode but when Jim changed the program as we were driving I could hardly believe the difference, I'm still amazed.
Got back into my 8v ibiza to drive home and to say it felt slow was an understatement. I got home and told the girlfriend our weddings postponed this year until I can save enough money to buy an Ibiza and get the chip fitted to it, that did'nt go down very well so looks like I'll have to wait till next year but I WILL get one.
Thanks for today Jim but your now going to cost me a fortune!!!:D :D :D

I can second Ryans comments, I was with him although I didn't drive (boo hoo), the difference when the chip was brought in was amazing, I have had high powered turbo cars b4 but the Ibiza's power delivery was so linear it drove like a high powered normally aspirated car, no lag, no whoosh as the momentum in the turbo built just instant pick up, extremely impressive. As for the wedding plans, as Ryans best man I fear for his safety after informing Gayle of his aspirations regarding changing the car, could get messy!!
