Does anyone here have a problem with water leaking into their cars? I've had my Leon for 6 months now, and it was after that the snow disappeared (I live in Norway) that I suddenly started to sense a strange smell (hopefully no me) inside the car. I sometimes find the carpets beneath the front seats damp, although not completely soaking. If anyone know the answer to this I'd be very grateful, as I don't want the guys at the local garage to spend too much time fiddling with my beloved car!

Topgear (UK car mag) had this problem on their long term test car. Seem to remember it was a faulty or bad fitting footwell plug. Their Leon turned into a mobile indoor swimming pool at one point!!!

When my car's been standing during a lareg amount of rain I get a line of water in the passenger footwell, seems to be coming from the door seals, very strange.

EVO magazine reported the flooded-passenger-footwell problem a few months back, and implied that the fault was common amongst most of the other magazines running 20VTs as long-term test cars.

I think theirs required a new door rubber(?).

I have had the same problem with my Leon. The problem was that the door rubber on the bottom of the door, sealed the draining holes :-(
Because of this, the door was filled with water and eventually the water came trough between the door and the interior and down to the footwell. Cutting small holes in the rubber at the draining hole positions will fix this problem.

Hope this will help all of you that also has damp footwells.

Excellent! I suspected something like that as there were great lakes of water between the doors and the interior when I opened the doors after rainy days.

For a while there I dreaded that I had to exchange my Leon for the new Compact (the 316 TI). I test-drove it here the other day, and the lack of power really surprised me. The only real option would be the 325 TI, but since that one costs in the region of GBP 37.000 over here (as compared with the 22.300 I had to pay for the Leon), it's really out of the question.

I also seem to get a line of water coming from the bottom of the front passengers door. At the moment I am keeping an eye on it but if it does continue I will have a little chat with my dealer. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/eek.gif
