Afternoon people,

This is my first time, so here goes:

I bought my Ibiza last July and love it. Checking out whats already been said in these forums I cant wait for next weeks rolling road session - I fancy one of those Upsolute chips!

Has anybody had any problems with warranty/insurance through fitting a chip?

One other thing, I also own a Pug 205 1.9 GTi which is a bit poorly in the garage at the moment. Obviously I can't drive both cars at once, but I was wondering if anybody had raced a Pug in their Cupra? I have a feeling the Cupra would trounce the Pug in a straight line but Might be a different story round the bends.

What do you all think??

Nick.

Ello NIck,

I have already raced a 1.9 Pug Gti and pretty well murdered it on the straight, but then you never know how much they are or are not pushing it do you?

On the bends....well I think that SEAT forgot to fit suspension as It flys around all over the place so I would pretty much agree with you on the bends its about as good as a Robin Reliant ;)

Si,

After giving my Cupra a good thrash (more than once!) its straight line performance is wicked. I think that pug was probably trying - Good thing is theres nearly always a good straight after a bend! I dont think the Cupra is too bad round the twisty stuff in the dry but I am not inspired in the wet!

I notice on your profile you have a Dump Valve and Induction kit, what difference does it make? Have you been impressed?

Nick.

ps. Dont you just love Turbos!!

I own an Ibiza Cupra and a Pug 205 1.9GTi also.... the 205 GTi is much much much slower (OK, my Ibiza is modded to 210bhp, but the standard Cupra is still much faster.). Also despite what people say the 205 isn't very good on corners.... if you take your foot off the accelerator in a corner then it will swap ends and spin.... even at moderate speeds.

My Ibiza has the PSS9 suspension kit on it too, so I can't quite remember what the standard Cupra suspension was like.

Ben,

Nice to hear from somebody with the same taste in cars (maybe!) What you say about the Pug I agree with (I hope you didnt find this out the hard way!) but the only time I had a problem was going very fast into a corner and thinking sh*t I have a problem but new that if I let off the accelerator I would have a worse problem so I kept my foot flat to the floor and made it round albeit squealing a great deal!

Obviously that is only my experience but one that made me LOVE that car!! I know I'm no racing driver just BLOODY LUCKY!

What does your Cupra handle like with the suspension kit on? Is it any lower? Would you recommend having it done? What have you done to get it to 210bhp? I bet its a stormer!

Nick.

Nick,

I have not fitted the Pipercross Induction Kit because of commenst that I had seen about the maintainence side of life and you may have read the thread about them :(

There is no performace gain so I am told by having the Forge DV fitted only the fact that the standard Bosch one is crap and this is better!

Oh well its off to Powerflow soon to have a full system fitted to the beeza!

Nick,

Yes, I've had some similar moments in the 205, but no accidents luckily.

The suspension I have is the PSS9 kit which is height adjustable and damping adjustable.... its currently set to about 30mm lower than normal (The garage had it down about 75mm at one point, so I'm told! ;) ), and the damping is set fairly hardish.

As gtevo said, it costs a grand! You can get nonadjustable versions for a bit cheaper I think.

The suspension is very good and the car handles very well.... I had the suspension fitted from new so I've never had the car with the original suspension on it, so I can't compare the old suspension with the new (I've got the original suspension in a box if anyone wants to make an offer... it only done about 6 miles!). Bill ("IbizaCupra" on this forum) has taken his car (Same spec as mine) to Castle Combe track twice, once with the old suspension and once with the PSS9 suspension.... I believe he was well impressed.

As for the power mods.... its got an Oettinger ECU upgrade, an RSD Free flow Cat-Back exhaust and a Forge Recirc Dump Valve... all fitted by RSD and Amethyst Seat from new. Claimed 207bhp, but I'm expecting around 195bhp when I take to the rolling road on Saturday.

Ben,

I was wondering why you only think that you are gonna get 195 BHP if it is claimed to be a lot higher, it dont look good to those of us who are looking to buy?

not trying to feck with anyones minds, but perhaps theres a seperate issue with bills engine that could be easily rectified once its been rr'd maybe gearbox related or anything....

You never know... mine might end up being the most powerful on the day..... but I somehow doubt it having been there twice already and got the same figures both times.
the car drives great.. The transmission losses were +2bhp over the stock car, but I have 7.5" wide rims, and 205 tyres. Not a lot different.

Soon all will be revealed... maybe!

I would'nt go so far as to say I'm laughing but I am still smiling at the moment. Wonder if others will still be smiling after their results.
I have seen the results twice and have experienced the dissapointment.. Does'nt make me happy, but the 19th is a day I can't wait to come. I have been patiently waiting for this to compare mine against other 20VT's.

oh well.
nearly there.
