Just thought it would be a good idea to get an owner log going to see who you can PM if you ever want help, compare bits, etc.

Name: Tom Ball

Model: 1.4 16v Sport

Age: 2002 02

Colour: Arctic Grey

Miles at present: 14900 ish

BHP: 101.8 (Northants Motorsport)

Torque: 96.0lb/ft

Mods:
(Currently, as it's Winter and because I'm selling up)

*SEAT Sport Strut Brace
*Flip key
*Clarion DXZ838RMP head unit and Infinity speakers

(Summer and for the new car)
*Colour coded door handles, mirrors, front and rear valances
*I have 17" Audi TT Competition alloys

Future mods: None, hopefully. I'm after an Ibiza 130 and that will have all the above bits transferred onto it. It will have KW coilovers on it too, to give it the ultimate stance. It'll also have an improved ICE setup as well.

Special features:
*Electric folding mirrors...its the only Ibiza I know of with them.

Loves
The fact that there aren't many about round here and that its still nippy enough to put a smile on my face.

Hates
The fact that its not a TDI, its has 3 shades of paint on it (thanks to Chips Away), it has crap wheels on it, the rear suspension is higher than the front, the dash is cheap and the seats are uncomfortable.

Tom! Dude, I'll be soooo jealous when you get the TDI 130 and slam it on the TT's! :( That'll be such an awesome combo! (I just wish these cars weren't that noisy inside.)

BTW, remember that the Polar blue is where it's at! ;)

Dude your car is the example i was after the colour looks well cool on it. Ive saved all your pics of your car cause its cool, just a shame there aint no cool kits out for the Ibiza. Ive loads of plans of what to do, but to begin with just keep it simple. Just a shame they so expencive, did you get a good deal on yours?

yes. I paid cash, at the end of a month, and paid when I ordered the car, not when I collected.
ended up spending quite a bit on it now. every pound I've spent on it has been worth it. I love this car. :D

What all cash for it or just a deposit? Did you get it from a seat dealer or online broker or somat? Did you have to hangle alot? Also if i was to change the enguine management will i void the warranty? Ie if i chip it??

by cash, I mean paid it on my switch card, and all the car. - meant he got a weeks interest, and helped 'sweeten' the deal (ie I got a better price from it.)
I bought from a dealer.
If you remap the engine (revo/amd/jabba etc...don't superchip it, they're pants), then if something were to go wrong with the car which could be proven to be caused by the remap, then that would not be covered.
however everything else would be.

How likely is it to go wrong? Your a student and bourght a £13000 car. I have to finance mine unfortunately way too poor to buy it outrite.

more than just a student. have my own company too, and worked full time last year and saved and stuff etc.
I've done 7000 miles since getting Revo'd now. PRC's done about 100,000KM since getting revo'd.
lots of cars revo'd, so its well tested code.
some people have had clutch problems (more torque = more wear + tear on clutch/gearbox), but that is perhaps due to driving style more than anything.

PD130 engines are good, and solid motors. only really frail part is MAF, but my ibiza has differnet type of maff and stuff to previous cars (that badger bill had seen), so perhaps less so...will wait and see.

So how much would it cost me to have my car made faster at remo'd? and what has it done to the insurance?

Revo is £500+VAT, plus the optional cost of a SPS1 device (which lets you switch between standard and enhanced). see www.revotechnik.com for details, and to find a dealer near you.
In regards insurance, it'll depend on age. if you're under 25 lots of companies wont cover you if you mod you. I'm 22, I use adrian flux, and saw about a 10% premium increase I think - I can't remember.

Thats not too bad and that got you the bhp and torque you are at now? I know i intend to get some sort of snooper devise as this will be the fastest car ive ever had and well dont want t o loose my licence just yet. Ive heard alot about adrian flux from max power they all seem to use them cause there cheap for performance cars.

ICK. Not Max Power. Please!

Easiest way to avoid loosing your license is not to exceed speed limits. Can always go to track days or sommat if you want to go really really fast.
I've got Origin B2 in my car, which detects most scameras....but its there mainly to (a) beep at me if I were to do more than 85mph on a motorway (b) show me where speed cameras are in areas I dont know, so I don't get caught out (c) provide me with an accurate way of knowing the car's true speed.

I think I'm getting old...

Boy racer heritage, when i went to college cars were it and big exhausts kits and all that were goddly. Ive calmed down alot two crashes in 4 months will do that to you, i was alittle recless. I like the cars in there mainly the incar styling and the big alloys. I wouldnt want to go much above 85 90 anyway cause someone always pulls out in fron t you, but it would be nice to have a fast car for overtaking. Just emailed my local seat garage about a ibiza FR tdi and there prepared to beat the online quote i got the other day so there knocking £1200 off which i think is totally sweet going to ring them later for a test drive. Role on july so i can order it

Must admit I love the eclipse blue too, bought a Beezer in eclipse for Mrs Ruddmeister and sat on the drive at thee weekend it looked v.cool. In bright sun it was flipping between purple/blue when you walked round it. Although my black LCR was clean and when it is black is also fantastic.

As I said, Stealth Racing - www.stealthracing.co.uk - am thinking of suggesting the organisation of another day there later on in the year.

SeatCupra.net is probably the biggest "Seat Owners club" in the UK, and certainly the best :p

There's the SCNSSC (SeatCupra.net Sooty Sports Club) for those who have Diesel powered VAGs, too. - http://www.seatcupra.net/scnssc/

There are monthly meets held in most parts of the UK :)

I test drove a seat ibiza sport today oh my god i oblitorated an audi tt little bitch. But its a car i dont feel safe in. Scared isnt the word. Ive absolutely no confidence in the car at all which is a shame cause i had such high hopes. Cornering is not something i enjoyed doing i was so scared it was going to spin out, you know you can just tell with some cars... It was a shame. Luckily i test drove a mini cooper in the morning so ordering one of them, to my spec it is even cheaper than the ibiza. I know i wont get the sort of economy out of it but it was alot more fun to drive and i felt so safe and secure in it. Shame but maybe when im older and can afford to loose my licence ill get one?

Do you know why he has foam on one of his hoses?
The hose in question is made of solid plastic, and at certain revs used to vibrate against the fuel filter housing next to it, causing a loud rattle that could be heard inside the car.

Took ages to track it down, with the aid of my local garage who said obscure rattles were common on VAG (VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda) TDIs because the engine mounts are so soft and allow so much movement.

I stuck the foam on to cure the vibration.
