Mother in law (well not quite yet) has a really low mileage 1.4 Ibiza, I think its a Vibe special edition? Its a touquise/green metallic.

Anyway, did an oil change/service on it today and noticed quite a bad rattle. On closer inspection, it appears to be coming from the gearbox. You can only really hear it in the vacinity of the engine area.

Any ideas, anyone know if its a common? Often does short trips, but occasionally taken out for a "long" run

possibly the centre bearing..

but i bet it's never had it's gearbox oil changed.

Did mine & it quietened up a lot.

I don't think mine had ever been changed (in it's 117k life) it was very noisey!

undid the sump plug (21mm allen I think) and out came a stream of bronze coloured liquid...

you may need to loosen a gearbox mount to access the 'top up' hole.
