I am absolutely thrilled with my dark "Indigo" blue Toledo TDiSE.The car has now done almost 89,000 miles and has always been perfect.
Being the 110 bhp diesel, I thought the coil pack problem wouldn't effect my car. Lately it looses power when pulling out to overtake. It just sticks for a moment at about 65 mph, then it suddenly gets the surge and flies to 90 mph! It is a wonderful car and it is one of the best looking cars on the road. I read that they stop assembling Toledos in 2004. What a damned shame !! There are too many badge snobs about! People should fight to keep the Toledo in production. It's a fantastic car.
Please can someone help me about the problem I have over loosing the power. Being a 110 bhp diesel makes me wonder if it is just dirty diesel.

The coil pack problem doesn't effect your car! It's a problem on petrol cars only, not diesels.

From the sound of it you've got MAF problems. I would have this checked 1st.
Other things it could be:
N75 valve dying on you.
Too much carbon build up on turbo (this happens if you drive mostly city).

Awkward one as you've gone well out of warranty now with that mileage and perhaps you'd get more feedback from posting it in the TDI or techinical problems forums. But like prc would think it is MAF or N75 related.
Give the car a good blast for a few miles in a gear other than top to clear out any soot though first as it's not unusual and something I've done in the past with our works vehicles which do a lot of stop start driving.
If it is the MAF you will save a lot of money by getting a Mercedes one which are also reputedly more reliable see www.uk-mkivs.net forum for many details on this (if you haven't already).

Very many thanks! I will take a note of your very helpful advice and get them to check it in SMC Exeter. They have always given me great service.:jog:

yes they have given me good service too, but their knowledge is quite poor. So its swings and roundabout really.

Be sure to post your results on here (please!) if they do get it sorted as I'm sure it could benefit a lot of people who seem to suffer similar problems.

I am very grateful for the help people have given me. I must say that this is genuinely an excellent website. I bring my Toledo in for a service very soon as it is almost due. I will pass on information to see if they can fix it 100%
Every day when I drive that dark blue Toledo, it feels so special.
Very many thanks!!

I had my Air Mass Meter replaced today. I will be bringing the car in to have the bushes replaced as there has been a knocking at slow speed in the suspension for quite some time.SMC Exeter did a good job and gave me good service.
I just want to thank everybody concerned for taking the trouble to tell me what was probably wrong. Very many thanks!!

The rears usually don't get worse, but I've seen a couple of really bad front one begining to chew away at the strut tower sheetmetal..

How much would it cost to replace front and rear bushes? i.e. what parts and how much labour?

TIA
