Anyone know were to look and what to change in VAG COM to enable this? Sooty doesn't have the featured turned on and as I work in Bristol and hence have to drive though some right dodgy areas I'd like to enable it! :)

No offence to any zider drinking gurt brizolians intended :p

I'm getting tired of the autolocking function in the following situations:

1. Always when people ride in my car. When I stop, they are already opening the doors before I have the key out of the ignition. And usually people don't know how to unlock the doors (by pulling the handle twice), so they start using violence. :(

2. When I'm picking someone up after driving alone for a while. I rarely remember to push the unlock button when picking someone up.

3. When I want to open the trunk (boot) while the engine is running. I get out of the car by pulling the door opening handle twice and when I go to the trunk, the lid is still locked.

It's really safe here, so this feature is just one of those features that people think are cool. For me, though, it's a bit annoying already.

My salesman said that if I want that disabled or the two-phase lock opening feature enabled, I could just go to the service and they'll do it for free.

My missus has a basic 1.2 12V Seat Ibiza Mk4 and the sales bloke sold the car as having the auto lock facility. We forgot about it after picking the car up, but when we got the Leon she said my car was supposed to have anti hijack rcl. I thought maybe the sales person was overselling the cars merits but is it available on all Mk 4's?

I would think so, it's just an ECU setting at the end of the day, however I still haven't figured out how to enable it on mine :(

I have the 2 stage thing still on mine, the stealers took off the autolocking feature.

IMO it's still an absolute pain and when it goes for something, it's going to be taken off.

Do I have to go to a dealer to get it done as the nearest dealer is about 30 miles away, or can someone like AmD who is a Bosch service agent do it for us as they are just down the road? Are there any Seat dealers in Northampton?
:devil:

AmD might be able to do it as they have a 1552 machine. Techie will be able to confirm that.

Northampton doesn't have a SEAT dealer yet. One's been built but there are doubts as to whether it'll actually open or just be sold on.

Isn't Perry's of Aylesbury near to you?

Personally I find the blighting car locking me in after 10mph a real pain in the ass. I agree with the other persons comments about people trying to escape also, people seem very keen to get out as soon as possible with my driving...... hmm

And you work in the posh end!

With regard to the other point raise - yes my wifes '04 Ibiza 1.2S has it, they don;t come much more basic than that so I assume it's standard.

I had the auto lock switched off at the stealer's quick service as the feature was getting annoying and also I bet had its part in yhe boot lid lock problem that I had. The tech used the VAG 1552 computer to switch it off.

you want to go into block "46 - Cent Conv" then pick "adaptation". I seem to think this list isnt the correct order, but as you scroll through the channels it should tell you what each one does and it seemed pretty self explanatory when I did it, here is the list I have... (a value of 1 is on and 0 is off)

03 - Auto Lock (lock @ ~10mph)
04 - Auto Unlock (unlock when remove ignition key)
05 - Unlock -> horn sounds/beeps
06 - Lock -> horn sounds/beeps
07 - Unlock -> flash inicators
08 - Lock -> flash indicators

I have all these on except the beep when unlocking (I dont tend to have too many people getting in/out during a journey so the autolock doesnt cause too many problems - although it was a tad embarrasing the other week when I jumped out of the car while at lights to get something out of the boot but obviously it wouldnt open with the engine still on!)

I'm not keen on the two stage unlocking..ie one plip and drivers door opens..two plips and the rest opens...

I have three kids and a wifey and as soon as they hear my door solenoid they all start pulling on their handles and start whinging...'unlock my door.unlock my door etc etc'

Definately one for the chop first chance...will save unneccessary battery wear on my plipper too....

Hey, these sound like fun. ;) No, seriously, the horn could be nice when it's noisier and you can't hear the solenoids. I usually turn my back before locking and only listen to the solenoids to be sure it was locked.

Is it like "honk" or "beep"? And is this available on all cars, not just the ones that have alarm?

Can the two stage unlocking (i.e. driver's door first) be enabled on all Leons? I remember when I was looking at Toledo V5s the dealer said the newer 170 ones had this but the older 150s did not, and I assumed it was determined by more than just software.

I think it depends on the car - mine (UK) goes beep but I think others (imports maybe?) honk like the horn.
