Saying simply that i had one of these and she was my first car, loved it to bits but had to let her go due to failed MOT and repair being more than she was worth.
How a piece of metal can break your heart.
but what broke it more was the f**d fiesta i bought to replace her!!!!

Yeah got 2. Crashed the first one of my brothers into a hedge on a country lane. Now got another i liked it that much, cheap, affordable and good to drive.
Yeah, My first car was a J reg 1.5 GLX but I think it was slighty facelifted. It still had those huge switches on the dash for the hazard lights/de-mist etc.
90bhp from a 1.5 carb. engine felt like 200hp at that age.
Still see it around our town everynow and then.
spot a mk1 owner - big forearms from manual steering
autograssed one meself once

Yeah this one is a 1.5i says to have 101bhp and i know wot you mean, it feels like a lot more, can keep up with the best of them. Always getting thumbs up when i go by really nice cars at f*** knows wot speed. Best I had is 130mph on the straightest bit of "private" motorway on a damned steep downhill, but 120mph is a regular......at the track. Screams of pain though.
I used to own an E reg white Mk1 Ibiza in my student days. Not quite a standard ibiza as it had a bodykit on it. Problem was it had a missing section which was impossible to find.
I doubt if it's still on the road but it's reg number is E506 NMF. It was only a 1.2 but i loved saying that the engine is desinged by porsche :)
I Bought it at an auction for 800 quid iirc. Had to replace the gearbox three times and had some dappy student reversed into it which caused 600 quids worth of damage.
I even drove it 40 miles not realising the water pump had broken causing it to lose all the radiator coolant. I did wonder why the temp gauge was high when I was sitting stationary.
After I got home and realised there was no coolant left, I tried pouring more in...
The water went in ok but it just ran out where the water pump is on the engine. So I went to a car parts dealer, bought a new punp and the car worked flawlessly after that. Tough little car ir was :)
Oh and the indicator stalk was a little weird to use as well :)
Ahhh memories :)
Excellent
I just bought on of these on an L plate (I think) at Auction tonight!
Will be the third car to throw the dogs in, trips to the bottle bank and general rubish.
Fells solid enough although a bit like a boat to steer!
