View Full Version : Buzz or ticking noise from Dash LCR

I have tried a search but could not find a thread that I thought I read about a ticking/buzz noise coming from around the centre of the dash on my Leon Cupra R.
It is quite difficult to locate but I think the sound is coming from the centre inside the dash and can be heard a bit better by sticking your ear in the glovebox.
It only makes the noise when the engine is running, and is constant, slightly louder on the cold start, and it does not change volume or fequency on engine rev or speed.
It is very annoying and short of ripping the dash to bits, anyone got any ideas?
Had same on mine and was particularly prevelant 1st thing in the morning.Mine turned out to be the aircon module/facia.I gave it a good shove on the plastic not the lcd panel!!! and it went away.Mine sounded like a speaker whining or a relay ticking buzz.

I have had a similar sounding buzz on my mk2 Ibiza since I've had it (3.5 years). Still hasn't gone away and I still don't know what it is. Mine varies with revs tho. I've got past being annoyed about it and just turn the stereo up :D
Would be interesting to know what it was though,
Had the exact same noise on my LCR mate, took it to the dealers who said it was some pipes or suumat that were behind the climate contols and thet were too close to the side of the plastic dash and vibrating against the side of it.
If it is the same noise I could alter the pitch of it by pressing the dash around the climate controls???????
Only did it when the car was running.
Like a whirring noise or something touching the vanes of an impellor????????
Any take it back, mine is now cured.
I have got same vibration noise in my LCR. Went to the dealer the other day and had a drive with the chif of mechanics. He said it is a common fault. It happens because one of the dashboard clips (the things that keep the dash fixed), the one that fixes-anchors onto the ventilation pipes comes loose. It is going to be done under warranty in two weeks time. I will let you know.
The other rattle I have got comes from the back. he chap said this is another common foult and, in my case, it is the plastic cover of the hach that gets loose. If you check it carefully, you will appreciate it is certanly loose. l:( It will also be done under warranty.
