Hiya all. Any technical boffins here that might know what my problem is here the specs for my car:

MK3 IBIZA Year 2000 1.0 Ltr MPI (multipoint Injection) 60,000 Miles.

The last couple of weeks now it doesnt like to go over a notch of 3,000 RPM on the Tacho. I was out driving on the road when it started with a pulling back feeling (losing Power) in gears 1-3 and the rev's going down to 3,000RPM. Now to get up to 60mph it will get to that but I have to quickly change up in gears to 5th gear running at 3,00 RPM because with all the other gears I get the pulling back feeling. By pressing the accellerator more it just makes matters worse but by just easing off the accelerator a tiny bit it doesnt seem to pull back as much - so its like working in reverse - the more I put my foot on the accellerator the more the car hesitates and pulls back (as if you are driving with your foot on the brake at the same time is what I can best describe it as)

I then decided to sit the car on my drive. It Idled fine - nice and smoothly. Then I when to go and rev it up. It went fine up to 3,000 RPM but as soon as it got past that mark it started going lumpy and misfiring and falling back to the 3,000 RPM mark - what the hell is going on!!!!

It strangely doent do it every day but most days now. I thought it was just dirt in the petrol but I have refilled it from different garages 3 times.

Now - I suppose I should take it to my nearest SEAT Dealers but you know what its like I am skint and Christmas is coming up and it is a bad time of the year to be spending out dosh. I am a bit savvy with engines so would anyone be so kind to offer advice what to look at / check first so I can try and avoid the garage.

I am wondering if it could be something like maybe blocked injectors or something - I am hoping its not ECU problem. Anywhere else I can look at?

Please - any help?

Thanks,

Andy.

Head gasket maybe? There coupld by a crack in it and you're losing compresion at hgh pressures?

I'd expect it to be lumpy on idle though...

Probably electrical. Ignition coil perhaps but could aslo check out plugs, leads, dizzy.
