Just wondering if anybody knows the procedure for removing a CV joint on a MK3 Ibiza?

Iv taken the hub carrier off and removed the old CV joint boot.

I have never removed a CV joint before, so have little knowledge on the subject.

I have read DPJ's thread on removing the CV joint: http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=138664

I have been hitting the outer casing of the CV joint whilst pulling on it, but it doesn't seem to be sliding off the splines.
I think im hitting it fairly heavily, but dont want to hit it any harder with the hammer incase I do any damage.

Many thanks.

I seem to remember it takes a really sharp whack to dislodge a CV joint. If you read DPJ's thread, he advises hitting directly on one particular part of the joint, it uses less force than hitting the outer casing although there is an increased risk of damaging the joint.

Have you taken the driveshaft off the car completely? While it can be done on the car, it is so much easier to remove the whole shaft and work on it seperately.

Hi mate,

Got it off eventually, was being abit of a wimp and not hitting it hard enough.

Worked on it whilst it was on the car.
