View Full Version : Remote Key not working well

I used to be able to use my key from quite a distance away from the car but now I have to be right at the car and even then it doesn't always work. Sometimes I just can't get it to work at all and so I have to actually put the key in the lock.

So, at a guess I'd say that the battery is going flat?

Is it simply a matter of replacing the battery, or does that result in the key forgetting its last rolling code, and as a result requires recoding?

ie. can I just buy a battery and do it myself, or should I take it to a dealership?

Cheers
Ben

1st try cleaning it, if that doesn't work pic up a new battery. It's deffo a DIY job, just pop out the front key section and replace.

Or you could try the thing Clarkson demonstrated on Top Gear a while back.....

Put the fob against your head and try again. It really works !

one day mine stopped working completely, no warning, nothing. Then a couple of days later, started working again - weird, been ok ever since, still on original battery

if ur gonna change the battery yourself be very careful not to loose the immobilizer chip, mucho dollar if u do,

it looks like a large grain of rice when u split the remote part or the key from the actual key part
