Just had a coilpack go on my Ibiza Cupra ( thankfully first one ) . Called AA out and they were here within 20 mins ( well impressed ) and they changed it straight away . The bloke said that I was the 11th car this week that he had replaced the coils on .
The engine managment light is still on and he said that I had to go to my dealer to have it reset , my 'local' dealer is now 45 miles away , so I phoned them up and asked if I could have it done at the local Audi/Volkswagen dealer . "Oh no you can't do that , you must take it to a Seat dealer to have it reset"
Is this just Seat being Seat or does it have to be done for warranty reasons ???

I tried to take my car to a VW garage because there was no waiting list there. Could see me in 2 days. However my car is a Seat, so no no no they couldn't see it at all.

Booked it in with a Seat Dealer for 2 weeks time. They all seem to have a massive waiting list at the moment.

If you've got, or know someone who has VAG-COM you can re-set the light yourself by clearing the fault codes.

If its not a silly question why ask SEAT if its OK?

If you dont want to travel 45 miles to your dealer just take it into your nearest VAG garage and tell them whats happened and say you want the fault code cleared. They shouldn't charge you more than 30 minutes labour to do this. SEAT will be none the wiser.

They may only take 30mins but VW charge £99 an hour labour and SEAT charge £49....

mind you I presume its warranty so no charge?

Or like Glenn says, find someone with VAG-COM and buy em a pint!

The engine management light has now gone out by itself , is this normal ? If so , it will save a trip to the dealer :)
