View Full Version : My clutch is broke!
I was on my way to work yesterday and guess what happened at the most incovenient time! My clucth ceased to function. A loud twanging noise and the clutch pedal shot to the floor.
After a lot of grief managed to get the car towed to my local seat dealer to investigate to find they were fully booked until after christmas! Plus had no courtesy cars available:(
Thankfully they managed to take a look at it to find that the arm of the clutch pedal had snapped. luckily my car is still under warranty (only till Jan 2004!!)
So I am currently car less and awaiting the parts to come in at the garage then they cant tell me when they will be able to take a look at it.
Has anyone else suffered from this misfortune with their car? My car has not even done 20k! Needless to say i am booking it in for its 20k service befor ethe warranty is up!
recently had my clutch pedal go to the floor, there is some crappy bit of plastic on the thing thats pushed when u push the pedal and it snapped! i was shocked, thought VAG new better than to have tiny bits of plastic on such vital parts! took dealer few days to get parts in and sort it out...
had my clutch pedal go to the floor too (with less than 1k in the clock), but nothing cracked/snapped. had to pull it back with my hand (foot) and it works since then
whos your local dealer?

Its more common that you would expect...
Not great quality form SEAT on this part... :(
My local dealer is All Electric in Haelsowen. Originaly bought it from Listers Seat in Coventry but All Electric is much closer to home!
Must say It has had numerous problems since I bought it a year ago which seem to be getting progressivly more serious!

Mine appears to have been done as well by the previous owner.
Seems like they go around 20,000 miles.
My mate said his Audi S3 did exactly the same arround 20k and his is the same year as mine. I guess they must have used the same parts?
Ah well garage have the parts in and are gonna try and get it dorted by tuesday!!!
Out of 2 years of owning it its gone 3 times ( i've done 20,000 miles)and it feels quite suspect now.
Finally got my car back this morning!!!
Good to have her back especially as she feels alot quicker since driving the other half 1.2 clio!!! :D
Only worry is that as my warranty is due to run out in Jan then what else is there to go wrong now!!!

Ive had the same problem twice, Once around 20,000 and its just gone again (40,000).
Damn thing nearly killed me, got stuck 4th on the approach to an island.
It appears to be some crappy clutch design, a peice of metal that pushes against the clutch lever keeps snapping off, Managed to get it going again by securing it in place with a piece of wire (arrrrgggh).
Seat sent me over to Audi to get a replacement part, so looks like they use the same components.

Im not usually sad enough to sit around monitoring forums in order to post sarcastic / pointless replies. If I do in future feel the urge to, I will definalty be asking you for some pointers.
