Can Swinny (or somebody else that is clever http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/wink.gif ) walk me through "setting" of passenger mirror for reverse auto-dipping?

Lee quoted it as:-

-Start the car in Reverse with the mirror selector on the passengers side.

-Turn Car off, turn mirrors to drivers side, stick in reverse and bobs your uncle.

I may be wrong though.

I can only assume he IS wrong....'cos I can't get it to work! http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/rolleyes.gif

Do you need to adjust the mirror to a suitable "reverse dipped" position manually? http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/confused.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/confused.gif

Lee is partiallly correct.

I'll try to take you through it step by step.

1. Start Car and put car into reverse.

2. Turn mirror control to the passenger side

3. Set mirror to desired position, low so you can see the kerb area for parking.

4. Switch it back to the Drivers side.

5. Take out of reverse.

MOST IMPORTANT

You must leave the control knob switched to the drivers side for it to work.

Now each time you put the car in reverse, it should dip down to the position you set.

If it doesnt, then dont know, cause thats how i set mine and it works fine.

Good Luck

Nope....that doesn't work either..... (mirror just stays in the dipped position when you take the car back out of reverse) http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/frown.gif

Are you supposed to switch off the ignition at some point during this sequence? http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/confused.gif

Doesnt make any difference if you have the engine running or not. But the ignition lights must be on.

Im not sure then all i know is that sequence works no problem on my Leon everytime.

In fact i just went out to try it to confirm it.

In my manual it says the memory mirror (ie auto dipping mirror) is part of the memory seats functions.

Does your car have memory seats, i think it may not be a feture or newer Leons, seen as though SEAT seem to take lots of features away each month.

Next month someone may say, are these meant to have turbo's. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif

Ahhhh....now I may be in danger of being a silly billy again.

I was trying this on my dad's (import) TDI SE .....which doesn't have leather (nor therefore memory) seats. The handbook however does imply that it has auto-dip which needs to be "set" to activate (and pugwash you are correct...manual is written for LHD).

It could be that the car doesn't have it.....so if you want a laugh feel free to advise a 98-point instruction list including getting in/out of the drivers seat, into the boot, put the car in 2nd, trigger the fuel flap etc etc etc http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/wink.gif

I am finally getting my Leon 20VT this Monday (September 3rd). I do not have the leather memory seats, so does this mean that the auto-dipping mirror will not be present on my car? Can someone confirm this for me?

The memory on the new cars has been disabled since week 18 because of the upgraded alarm software - so could this be a reason why perhaps my new car won't have it?

Stevo.
