Ok guys, going to sound like a complete novice here but am new to the car scene. Have just bought a new LCR and ready to learn :-)

Having read through as much as I can on here and other sites I like the idea of finding out what kind of things I can do to my car to improve performance etc...

Have read about the REVO and am interested to say the least. Never having done anything like this before I presume it invalidates my warranty and insurance if I get it done...advice please....

Would be interested to hear peoples top 3 modifications.

The LCR is an amazing bit of kit, I hunted around for ages looking at all the new cars available, as soon as I test drove one of these I knew I had to have one.

Hi & welcome to the seatcupra.net forums..:)

You need to do some searching through the LCR section (located within the Leon section) & the Revo section of the forums.

From my understanding you need to inform your insurance company of all mods done to your car.

The Revo stuff is switchable from performance to stock so your local dealer will never find out.;)

Warranty is a delicate issue, a car manufacturer must prove, that any alterations made to the car by said modifications (REVO) or otherwise, cause damage to whatever item that could potentially fail and would require replacement under warranty.

So therefore, if your Turbo decides to expire, then possiblity is that the Turbo would not be replaced under warranty, most other items under the bonnet could neccersarily be invalidated for similar reasons, like gearbox, engine mechanicals, all being put under more strain.

But alternatively if your doors fall off, or lights fail to come on, then thats not due to a more powerful car, and as such these items can not be invalidated.

But on the flipside, having been privvy to a forum of hundreds and hundreds of members over the past 2.5 years, and not yet hearing of a chipped car expiring in here due to being chipped, and those i have heard of going pop elsewhere, were high mileage cars circa 100k miles, or if not due to underlying engine defects.

Some dealers are chip, modification friendly anyway, some even offer the services to their customers.

Insurance won't be invalidated, unless you fail to let them know, some don't as its not a modification that can be easily discovered, REVO and APR Directport are 2 such chips that dont require your ECU to be removed and have a new chip soldered in, so this method leaves your car untouched and as such there is little to see for prying eyes.

My own opinion is i let my insurance know, as at the end of the day for the extra bit of cash you know your covered for any eventuality, in my case it added roughly 10-20% to my premium for all my mods declared, but insurance is person specific, your age your history, location etc would have a bearing on it.

My top 3 mods.

Well on the LCR at least, id go for a Chip, Forge Dumpvalve, maybe some Samco hoses for added strength once chipped.

The thing with the R is its a nice package out of the box, the brakes can cope no problem with the extra power, the handling is acceptably good as is.

If you've got the modifying bug like i have, then you can move onto, a better exhaust and free flowing CAT, air filter (either panel filter or something like a Dynatwist induction kit), then turbo intake pipe, then maybe later onto front mounted intercooler, maybe better suspension, coilovers anti roll bars, the list is endless really, just depends how far or more importanly how much you want to spend.

But as PRC points out, use the search function search specific areas like Leon & Cupra R with in that area, and other places like REVO's area and Modifications is another good place to search.

Welcome to the site. As Paulo says, have a search through the forums, there is a wealth of useful knowledge here.

Glad you are pleased with the car. Yes it is a top piece of kit.

My top three modifications are:
1. Jabba chip/remap with boost controller (or REVO)
2. Bailey Dump Valve (or Forge)
3. Induction Kit (Dynatwist)

There is of course the window tints but I get called a "pimp daddy poser" with those. ;) :D

Again welcome to the site. Good luck with any future mods. People here will be glad to help out / advise. Most people on here are sane, there are a few nutters but you'll spot them soon enough. :p

That'd be my list too for a LCR :)
