Car back on road @ last.... (some *unt cut me up & forced me into rndabout causing £1300 damage)

now i want more power - Cupra 2l 8V,

Full powerflow system
Pipercross induction kit
(other mods but not performance)
how about changing the cams? how much and what benefit will i get?
or, chipping it? think its about £200 with a 10% increase? is it worth it?

0-60 in 7.9 as it is with top end of 130mph (i want 150bhp - dont ask why, just eva since i was little i've always wanted a car with 150bhp+ - nice figure)

any ideas???

its been discussed quite a bit these past few weeks. Have a search for cam & chip etc..

My old 8v , was Remapped by AmD , came out with 136 bhp ... lot smoother , great drive.

I also went head to head with someone who had shrick cam and remap done (private road) , not really much in it . Only top end , he could go into red line without the car backing .

do the cam first, you would get about 5 - 10 bhp (guess), its about the same as chipping but gives you the option of chipping it at a later date which would make better use of the cam upgrade.

a cam will work better on a well polished and ported head, get that, the cam and then mapped properly by amd or stealth and you'd have a very nice engine.150 bhp should be doable but its just a number.good torque and the use of is key;)

Tony2quick4u and Domjolly have both done similar work. Head first is best bet, but if you want to save on labour cam at the same time. After all that you need a remap, as was highlighted on Tony's car by our RR day in the summer. have a search I'm sure you should find all their comments.

any idea of cost for the cams etc?

cam will cost about £250-£300 to 'own' but fitting, and a new cam belt will probably work out at about 2-3hrs labour.

How about swapping it in for a 16V? It just so happens that my baby (ahh how sweet he calls his car his baby! ) will more than likely be up for sale very soon!! I have decided to take my bike test!!! hooray!!!!

In all seriousness the 16V is a great car and will offer that little bit more for overtaking etc... It doesn't pull to bad from lower in the rev's either plus its got 150BHP standard. :D

P.S I have just read my thread above and realised that it says K+N induction kit but it's not fitted at the mo but have tried it out and it was good with the exhaust! (Ta I'm off now....Ok I'll shut up!!)

I know somebody who might be interested in your 16v, but depends on your mileage and colour and whether he can shift his VR6.

It's red with the standard multispoke white wheels. half leather interiorand usual standard stuff. Exahaust is magnex cat back though. I have upgraded the speakers and when I come to let it go you can have the option of a recently new (few months old) JVC PICT head unit (plays MP3's etc). Also have a 10" vibe and amp. (for minor extra £'s) Also have the original stereo if prefered again a CD / radio. Havent actually put it up for sale yet but of course if anyone is interested then they can look at it if they want!!! p.s it's got 54K on the clock and new pirelli P zero front tyres.
