View Full Version : any feedback on these dealers: Focus,Wiltshires, Pinchbeck (Andover branch)
on servicing.
Much appreciared
Reason being , I enquired about a service and need a courtsey car at my local dealer. I explained that I had recentley moved into the area and his answer was "Normally if you dont buy your car from us then we wont provide a courtsey car, but as you didnt live in the area when you bought the car, we will"
I didnt tell him it was an import,,,,,something tells me he aint going to provide a courtsey car!
i've already spend almost £60 at this garage on mats, paint and hlamp covers (and the oil), I do 30,000 miles a year, so thats three services, so he wouldnt do bad out of me.
So any feedback on the three plus if you have had any courtsey cars would be appreciated.
Many thanks
Can't vouch for these dealers obviously.
But most supply them as simply a courtesy to their customers, and not as a set thing they must provide.
But my dealership was defranchised last year, for a lame reason only SEAT can provide the answer for, but we wont go there :p
Anyway, i had to take mine to another SEAT dealership, and i got a courtesy car, no problem, didnt get any crap like you didnt buy it from us blah blah.
It was just something they provided to anyone having work done, as long as you requested it enough in advance, then they would reserve a car for you on the day it was needed.
I think its all very dependant, i think SEAT should step in and make sure that courtesy cars are available to any SEAT customer, whether its an Import car or not, its still covered under SEAT's warranties and so they should at least be honoured with some form of service from any dealer, its too dependant on dealer discretion at the moment.
same with Ford, when I had a Ka, There was one dealer between Farnham and outer London (use to live Aldershot, commute to Chertsey) who would supply a car..The other 5 or so dealers wouldnt!
guess which one I went to.....

I know of one Seat dealer (I dare say a few of you will know who i'm on about, I shan't utter their name) that do not offer courtesy cars to their Seat customers whatever. They also deal another brand from the same site and customers with that brand of car do get offered courtesy cars. If you have a Seat, they'll offer you a free taxi within a 2 mile radius... Suffice to say that what with this and the whole host of other problems I have had with the particular dealer in question, I tore up the (incorrect) service notification that dropped through my letterbox yesterday...

We wouldn't be talking about the dealer near Black Castle in Bristol would we?
I ordered a car from them, then cancelled it, because they were over the top on price. I have called them to check on servicing etc, and they told me exactly the same, no courtesy car, just Taxi.
I will be going to Amethyst for my servicing and parts, only a few miles up the road, and they seem like nice people.
I have also heard that the other dealer near here in Congresbury is not very good either. When I was looking at Leon's they completely ignored me.
It says a lot for customer service at these places, especially when you cant aven attract a sales person.
Try Amethyst, all the people on here can't be wrong!

I couldn't possibly comment ;) I have vented spleen at great length previously, as have others - check back through the threads...
Re: the dealers in Congresbury, I have never had any trouble from Holders, in fact I would have bought an 8v Cupra from them if MWM hadn't existed. Those were the days...

I have to book my car in pretty soon for the service, so any feedback on these three would be appreciated.
As for Bryan Bros, I use to live in Bristol and they have alwasy been just as bad
AndyB, let me guess whiltshires?, personnally i wouldnt touch them if they offered to service my car for free. They screwd it up when it went in once and they couldnt fix it. I went to 3 other gargages around the country- in the end Amethyst in chelters sorted it- top blokes down there.
No it was Pinchbeck actually. Have heard OK things from Whiltshires actually and warnings about Focus.
Cant really afford to take a 1/2 day to go to Amthyst, but might have to.
Seat need to sort out dealer service!
Andyb,
I can definately vouch for Amethyst, i had to wriggle a day off and i can say i was bloody happy i did.
Their appraoach to my problem was brilliant and i only spoke to them for ten mins on fone, by the end of the week i drove the hour to them and left it with them over nite- when i picked my car up the next day it had noticably changed from being a bag of shite to the car i loved to drive hard
Paul
Same here!, i now get my car serviced at Amethyst with the hours drive there well worth it!, they seem to be cheaper than dealers around here and offer a far better service !!, they sorted my boost bypass valve out at very short notice for me!!
Mosser, do i read that location correct and that there is another looney driving around bracknell in a red seat?
doodle:devil:
You certainly do Doodle!!!, i am in martins heron right opposite sainsburys!!, handy for shopping:D
I thought it was tesco's in Martins heron!, i suppose you are over near crown wood / Hilton region? -sorted- i'm down by the Boot pub off the met office rounabout!
We've got both near us here!!, the Hilton is almost right outside my door !! (1 min walk away!)
That'll be me then about 7:20 ripping through the roundabout every morning then, nodding to the Hilton on my right.
How long have you been in this area?
you can see me everymorining on the A303 and then the M3 all the way upto M25. I often see a copper Cupra and a yellow Cupra.
Did some phoning about. Courtsey car seems to be a no-no anywhere even though I'm be putting the car in 3 times a year! (2x oil change services at around £85 and a full service at £200). anyway....
Focus, Camberley - damm right rude, plus the post today has put me off, 35 miles away. The bad service I recvd when I was thinking of buying the car in the first place (b4 I went the import route) also put me off.
Wiltshires, farnham - Again, a few dodgy comments on here, again 35 miles away, and despite having contacts wouldnt give me a courtsey car either
Great Covert , Soton - In the wrong direction for me, guy I spoke to was helpful and actually recommend Pinchbeck. Would have gone with them, if it was on way to work
Pinchbeck, Andover - My experiences so far have always been good (other than the courtsey car thing which now appears to be the same regardless of dealer). Anyway, spoke to them today and once again, very helpful so as I live quite close, then booked it there with a while-u-wait service. More expensive than GC
The other thing is that Pinchbeck did say originally that as I had moved into the area and hadnt bought ther car from them, they would supply a courtsey car, so good on them! Obviously that wouldnt apply to me as its an import. I'll let you know how I get on.
btw- Inchape at Farnborough, who are a Ford dealer and Coulbornes in Woking (VW) deserves a plug, because they always supplied me with a car when I had the Ka.
Thanks everyone for the feedback. I'll let you know how I get on.
If any dealers read this and want my service and money, then provide me with a courtsey car (and customer service) and I'll be yours( 3 services, warranty clains, parts)
