or not.......finally an answer..

'Dear Mr W,

Thank you for your recent contact regarding the gearbox in the SEAT Exeo ST.

Unfortunately there are no current plans to release the above vehicle with a full automatic gearbox at this stage or in the near
future.

Thank you again for contacting SEAT UK

Kind Regards'

no Exeo for me then...

I was told by the sales director at ******* in St Albans that there definitely will not be an auto option.
That's why I now have a nice shiny black Skoda Octavia L&K Estate TDi DSG.

John.

I was really wondering about why the automatic transmission option was still not available in ST. after all, it has been some time and all the other cars have already made the dream come true but I do not know as to why the ST still lacks behind in it. Not only is this going to cut down their sales health and insurance but also their overall status! I hope they soon does it at least by the end of this year!

I too have read from many online publications that SEAT are releaseing the auto and the DSG should fit ok as the overall box is the same casing it just requires computers controls unit to tell it what to do as the gar changes are classed as fl by drive.

Also if you get the DSG box you have an option of full auto or semi so tat will also suit your needs

As I said all along

The elegantly sporty Exeo saloon and the dynamic Exeo ST estate are set to become the automatic choice for business and private drivers alike with the debut in Paris this week of a new drivetrain option.

Drivers seeking an extra level of refinement, in addition to the Exeo’s established sporting prowess, will find the new continuously variable multitronic gearbox making its Exeo debut in France presents a compelling alternative to the six-speed manual.

This efficient automatic gearbox is mated to the 143 PS (105 kW) 2.0 TDI common rail diesel injection engine. With an average fuel consumption of only 5.8* litres per 100 kilometres (48.7 mpg), this variant combines SEAT’s trademark refined dynamics and high efficiency with classic automatic ease of use.

The electronically controlled multitronic works with continuously variable ratios, enabling the engine to operate consistently at optimum efficiency. For dynamic drivers it offers both a sport programme that results in gear shifts at higher revs, and a manual mode controlled via steering wheel-mounted shift paddles.

Alongside comfort and dynamics the new multitronic gearbox delivers impressive economy. The mechanical efficiency and broad ratio spread of this hi-tech gearbox ensure low fuel consumption and emissions.

There have been other important changes to the Exeo range, too, which now make the cars even more roomy and comfortable.

Small but significant revisions to the front seat back and rear bench designs result in an appreciably larger rear passenger compartment. Thanks to the redesigned front seats and rear bench, room in the back has now increased by 44 millimetres without any sacrifice in seating comfort or luggage space.

Of course quality remains a key ingredient in the Exeo and the final revision unveiled on the Paris Show car further underline SEAT’s ambition to make the model the most desirable in its class. New rear lights featuring LED technology – offered in combination with the bi-xenon headlights – make the hi-tech appeal of the Exeo immediately apparent.
