View Full Version : New Leon Cupra on order !!
Whey hey !!
Just placed my order for a Black Cupra !!
Got it for £14106 , for some reason there was no charge for black paint...maybe its not pearlescent now ??
Just have to wait until Oct/Nov before I get it http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/cool.gif
Tadge - who did you place the order through, Focus in Camberley ?
------------------
Im actually buying the car through a PCP scheme organised through my work.
I got the 14106 quote from http://www.drivethedeal.com and then gave that quote to my PCP company which matched it http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif
I think it will cost me less than 16 quid a month !!
As for Focus, I would personally NEVER buy anything from them !! Someone told me something about them, which I can't repeat...
Anyone else have any experience from them ??

ALL THE DEALERS IN SURREY SEEM USELESS. TRUST ME THE ONE IN FARNHAM IS WORSE. ASKED FOR TOUCH UP PAINT FOR BLACK IBIZA CUPRA AND THEY DIDNT KNOW WHAT TYPE OF BLACK IT WAS (AND DIDNT HAVE IT ANYWY). ASKED FOR THERE THOUGHTS ON OIL, SAID THEY DIDNT REALLY KNOW BUT WOULD ONLY PUT IN 10W 40 NON SYNTH AT A SERVICE. NEED I SAY MORE. CAR WASNT BROUGHT FROM THEM BUT THATS NOT THE POINT

Is there much difference between SOLID black and PEARL. Black ??? Are there any photos anywhere of solid black ??
Has anyone tried SMC Windsor for servicing ??
They seemed to be the only decent dealer in the area when it came to me getting an extended testdrive - but I didn't really pay any attention to their workshop facilities..
Just what I wanted to hear guys - the two nearest Seat dealers to me are Wiltshire's in Farnham and Focus in Camberley!
Neither of these two has been able to sort out a 24hr test drive for me! http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/mad.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/mad.gif
Sob, sob....
SMC Windsor sound like a better outfit, there is a dealer in Reading also - any feedback on them ?
Yorkie.
------------------
Tadge - if you could EMail me the dirt on Focus I'd appreciate it as they do seem the more clued up of the two local dealers.
Any info treated in confidence...

Thanks

The Reading dealer (Emmer Green ??) couldn't do a long test drive for me. Plus the only demo car they had was a 1.4 (their most popular seller ??!!??!!??)
The drive I had from SMC was only an hour, enough for me to nip down the M4/A329 to Bracknell, and then the country roads back again. That was enough to sell the car to me (Don't ya just love it when the dealer says: "Were a bit busy today, so you'll have to take the car out on your own" ) http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/cool.gif
Has anyone got any good feedback on SEAT serviceing in the southern region ?? - otherwise it looks like I'm gonna have to become a customer of that rather dodgy dealer in Cheltenham http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/wink.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/wink.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/wink.gif

I had no trouble with 24 hr test drive from SMC Windsor. Have ordered the 20vt with side skirts and fron spoiler. Pick up on 1st Sept on new plate. Not sure on quality of servicing from these guys, but sure soon to find out.
Anyone else use SMC Windsor, who can comment! http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/rolleyes.gif

Someone beat me to it! I was about to ask y'all if anyone had experience of Focus and Wiltshires. Looks like I'm off to Slough ;-)
Had a test drive with the Wilthshires a month back which sold me on the Leon Cupra - at the time they had three ex-SEAT staff cars bought from a SEAT auction. Two Cupras with approx. 4500 miles each, between 6 months to a year old, and one Sport, 18 months old, 26,000 on the clock.
The Cupras went rather quickly, but the Sport is still there, at £13,000 (+£1500 on the book price?) and is now sporting Cupra badges on the back which I didn't notice last month. (Could be my eyesight failing me though).
Have to say though, they were very helpful and courteous, plus they offered a very good trade in on my battered rep-mobile. Can't comment on how friendly they are AFTER you've handed over the dosh though.
Ade.

Are you sure they were ex-staff cars and not ex-demo cars as used on track days! Any tell tale signs of cages having been fitted. low milage but what a way to run up a few 1000 miles eh? Be wary of ex-Seat or ex-VW cars.... so I've heard. Probably fine real staff cars..

Supposedly most Leons for the SEAT managers are running 240bhp. Could be these cars were chipped and then dropped back after so how reliable they'll be who knows?
Cheers
Andy
My Leon was an ex-staff car. No evidence of being driven hard...original tyres not overly worn, no stone chips, clean engine bay, no scrathes, etc. Might have had the windscreen replaced though???
Dealer of course told me that nothing was out of order!

Shall I chip it? :)
Hi All,
I have a Seat Leon 20VT Cupra which has had its last 3 services at SMC windsor and they have been extremely friendly and very helpful with booking it in at the last minute when i have crept up on the service interval without noticing!!, and they will put in any oil i want (currently using fully synth in it), they always make a loan car available if i want it but last time i was in a rush and they serviced it whilst i waited in 2 and a half hours!,
The problems i have had with my car since new are 2 cracked windscreens, a cracked offside indicator lens, and a split gaitor on the LHS driveshaft, the gaiter and the indicator were both picked up by the dealer and the parts fitted free under warranty, the gaiter took 2 days to arrive and the indicator they had in stock, so i am very happy with them!!,
One thing i would say about the Leon's is if you can get some sort of paint protection for the bonnet, do so!!, my bonnet has about 3-400 stone chips peppered across the bonnet!!,
I do push my car very hard and always run it on super unleaded and have kept rigorous mpg logs since i got it and it consistently returns between 30-34 mpg, if i do a very high speed run with it over 130 for more than about 15 minutes, the catalytic convertor gets sooo hot that the rear of the rails the front seats are mounted onto inside the car get to touch!! and loads of heat comes from the rear passenger footwell!!,
As far as tyres are concerned, i wore out the standard tyres after 29,000 miles and opter to put some bridgestone potenza s-03 pole positions on in 225/50 zr16 and this has dramatically improved traction and handling in the dry, i can only wheel spin in 1st gear now !!(unless i slip the clutch loads!!) i always drive with the traction control off as it wastes loads of power if it cuts in and i can do a better job of regulating the power with wheelspin than it can anyway ;o),
My car has covered 39,000 miles now and i have owned it for 8 months in total!!.
Phew!!, if anyone has any questions feel free to ask or if Tadger wants to come over to look at it let me know!!

They arent the comfiest seats in the world, but then if they were softer for more comfort they wouldnt hold me in very well, I usually have a rest on motorway driving every 3 hours, am just popping up to leeds this morning and returning this afternoon !!!

Am back already !! couldnt have got to leeds and back in the car i used to have in that time!!,
I am a field service engineer specialising in laser printer repair and we have customers scattered all over the uk which is why i drive so many miles,
An average years driving for me is between 60-70,000 miles so i will be giving my leon a really good testing!!, my last car died with 230,000 miles on the clock and i expect the same from this one possibly with an engine rebuild being needed at 150,000 miles maybe?

Ha Ha, but I bet if you'd used gears 3, 4 and 5 a little bit more the engine on the XM would have lasted a bit longer wouldn't it !!
