I got my new Leon Cupra in March this year and haven't really had the chance to enjoy it fully - after 2 months the accelerator went completely slack and I couldn't get more than 1,000 revs out of her - 10 days in the local dealer - and then 3 weeks ago she died on my driveway - initially thought it was a problem with the immobiliser then the garage didn't know what was wrong with it and now (3 weeks later) they say it is a problem with the ignition and they are waiting for parts.
When then car has been working it has been a total joy to drive - has anyone else had similar problems?

My advice to you is to go back to the dealer and say you've lost confidence in the car, that it is ridiculous for such things to be happening on a car this new.

The problem is in a scenario like this you shouldn't accept repairs, you should go back and say that the car has had too many things go wrong with it, its been in the garage more than on the road.

Then dont accept the car, tell them you want a new replacement car, yuor confidence has gone in it and how many more things will go wrong.

Stand your ground be firm, contact SEAT themslves tell them how you feel.

At the end of the day your within your consumer rights to reject a product if it doesn't live upto its promises.

The cars are good, it seems you may have been unfortunate, but as long as you've not accepted major repairs you should still be within your rights to reject this car, but act quickly.

By the way i hope you meant 1000rpm, cause it would be hardly suprising your having problems getting it over 10,000rpms due to it not having that much on the Rev counter http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif

Let us know how you get on. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif

Nah Lee sounds more serious than an Air Mass dont you think?

My Air Mass is up the pole but it still can start and accelerate, just not as well as it should. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/tongue.gif

Is the car on HP? If so phone up the HP company you've got the agreement from and tell them that you are rejecting the car and why because they own it not you. You may find that with a big HP companies legal department breathing down their neck the dealer may back down and get it replaced. If not your probably stuck.

I had all sorts of sh*t with the immobiliser on my first Toledo and ended up going to SEAT UK's managing director with a solicitors letter before I got any proper action. The local dealer (who are no longer in business) surprise surprise, were a bunch of complete w*nkers and SEAT UK ended up taking it to Great Covert SEAT in Romsey which is about 60 miles away from me to get it sorted by some REAL professionals. The problem turned out to be with the ignition barrel keycode reader in the end after 6 trips to get it fixed.....

The car is in fact leased through my company, and it is funny you should mention the ignition barrel Max as this is what they are now saying the problem is!

I will take your advice ZBOYD and go back to the dealer who supplied it and start making a fuss. I guess the only good thing about it is that I don't actually own it!

Itching to get back in the driving seat though - what a car!!

Thats a coincidence!!! Mine used to flash the immobiliser light on the dashbaord when it was playing about. If you unlocked it three times with the key in the door (not the fob) it used to work sometimes. They ended up fitting a Golf one to mine and flashing the ECU Bios with a new revision of code. It was in the garage for a total of three and a half weeks but to their credit I did get a decent loan car.

If you can get hold of Gordon Sutcliffe your a better man than me. I have spoken to ZOE and FRASER at Seat Customer Care ( more like Seat Customer doesnt really care ) ref my Ibiza Cupra that was rusty after one week. They would not put me through to him and told me that he would not speak to me, only to the dealer !
http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/mad.gif at the end of the day they just say that your contract is with the dealer and you need to take it up with them. Not really good enough, come on SEAT what are you playing at ?

Just a thought, but have you tried threatening the dealer with Trading Standards and/or watchdog ???

If that doesn't work then maybe you could carry out the threat...

Also, If I remember correctly - doesn't What Car have a helpline/dept that you can contact and they will try and sort things out for you ??

I have had it with SEAT.

Have been advised that car will not be ready until 1st or 2nd week of September!!! Already in the garage for a month now and I am going crazy driving around in an Ibiza S!!!! Told if I want to reject the car it is a very long process and there is no guarantee that it will be accepted. Spoken to garage who are fixing the car and they are unable to provide me with a larger courtesy car so I can go on holiday next week and all in all I am feeling totally p*ssed off with SEAT in general - is there nobody out there in SEAT land who can take responsibility for this mess? I am paying £270 a month to drive an Ibiza S - nice car, but not what I am paying for!!!!

Whilst I am on a roll here - can anyone advise me what the score is with replacement ignition barrels for the Leon - as this seems to be taking forever to get fixed??

SEAT YOUR CUSTOMER CARE IS ATTROCIOUS!!!

Long drawn out process is a load of crap designed to make you back down.

Like Tadger has said i would now speak to Trading Standards and I would contact Citizens Advice and they will advise you where and who you can contact regarding taking this further.

Explain to dealer you will now be taking this further, and will be contacting trading standards, also explain this to SEAT Customer care, and see how you get on.

They will always try and bullshit you into backing down, at the end of the day it may be a long drawn out process, but if your committed and your reaons sound pretty valid to me, im positive you will be successful.

Try and get names and if you speak to SEAT, also put everything in writing to them also.

eg letter : regarding our telephone conversation dated xxxxx

you get the idea, its easy to ignore a phone call, but letters become more improtant in a legal sense.

Hope you get sorted.

Most importantly dont take any shit.

Good Luck

Just a quick question:

Which dealer/garage did you buy the car from?

Is it the same dealer/garage carrying out the repairs?

Phatt.

Just heard from SEAT UK that the car is having the whole immobiliser and locking system replaced as the necessary ignition barrel parts are unavailable. Car will be ready on Friday. I am not going to reject the car at this stage - obviously if anything else goes wrong I will go down that route. Thanks for your advice guys!! http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif

The dealer trying to fix my car has just called me to say that they have been advised by the Area Technical Manager to reject the car - so long and short, I am getting a new Leon Cupra next week - Imperial Blue this time I think!
