Hey peeps,

I have just bought a V5 (Imperial Blue Metallic, if you must ask), in pristine condition. I think it has TCS, but Im not 100% sure (feels like it), but the brochure from 1999 doesn't mention it (its 3 years old, almost). Does anybody know?

No the original V5 Toledo hasn't got TCS. What you do have is EDS or Electronic Differential System which uses the ABS sensors and brakes to prevent wheelspin on individual wheels.

Traction control wasn't put onto the V5 until it received the 170hp engine upgrade late 2000 / early 2001.

EDS is the biggest pile of cr*p ever, never works on my TDi, just spins either/both wheels until you take foot off, even at part throttle with chip fitted....:(

Agree with u Neil. Have tried a few older cars with EDS and can't really find anything good to say bout it

Ditto, not keen. Makes a nasty noise, doesn't work too well when pulling away and can make things very fidgetty if you provoke it mid-bend :(

Neil it's like a hammer banging away in your tranny.. I think it might not be working on your car caus on the toledo any enthusiastic 1st or 2nd gear will cause it to go on.
