I personally wouldn't touch an upsolute chip if my life depended on it.

£14K new car......would i dare spend £200 on a chip giving me all that extra oompphh.

You pay for what you get is what i say.

You wonder why its soooo cheap when all other chippers are charging £400 minimum....

I was at GTI this year....and i can say NOT ALL the people who forked out the £200 were pleased with the results.

and what happens if there is a problem....you take the chip out and send it to them??? SO you have no car for god knows how long.....and what happens if your chip is lost in between....NO THANKS!

From what i can gather from reading all the posts on their web site, when they do your upgrade they unsolder your original chip, fit a socket in its place, read and store you original chips configuration in their computer for any future use or upgrades and send you back your ecu with the new modified chip in it AND send you back a copy of your original chip so that if you have problems you can swap the chips over yourself !

Olright Dave! I'm afraid I finally plumped for the TDI 110 in black.....yet to pick it up from Holland though.....
It'll have 10-spoke 16" wheels on it 10mins after it arrives in the country though, so I should be easy to spot!
PS - Bronze would be my choice for a Cupra....lovely

Chungster....in the business world companies adopt different policies. Some have a "value for money" approach, others "maximise profits" approach. Neither is "wrong".

The hardware required for a chip upgrade costs a few quid. Labour to effect conversion is a few quid. Costs are development costs.....pretty much one-off.

I'm sure they don't have a 100% satisfaction rate.....how many companies do? Look on their BBS however and you'll see they are as happy to openly/publicly discuss customer problems as they are to accept praise.

In MY Humble Opinion Upsolute get FAR more +ve feedback than -ve.

I'm afraid your argument sounds more like that of someone who chose an A3 or a Golf over a Leon..... http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/confused.gif

Please note: I have nothing to do with Upsolute, have no axe to grind, and don't want to fall out over it.....just feel your argument is a little over-simplistic.... http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif

Edited to say:-

Your comments regarding "access to Upsolute" if something goes wrong etc. are certainly valid. This also applies to get converted in the 1st place....which is why we'd like them to come over.

After that if anything does go wrong, you can courier ECU fully insured next day deliv for less than £40 each way.....would still work out cheaper than other conversions (and I'd probably need to spend that on fuel to get to a UK tuner). If your ECU gets lost, it's insured....Upsolute will upgrade your new one FOC.

Good news is that they are (allegedly) negotiating with a UK dealer.
