View Full Version : touch-in scratch on paintwork
Some kind 'person' took a dislike to the Flash Red paint on my new Ibiza and left a deep scratch down to the metal.Must have used a nail or something. Whats the best way to touch it in properly to prevent rust, please ?
Where abouts are you?
I'd recommend 'chips away' should be able to repair the scratch so you wouldnt notice it.
any chipsaway guys around manchester? I managed to put a few big scratches in the top of my rear bumper today while sliding some junk out of the boot :(
Have a look in your Yellow Pages, should have local operative in there.

In previous experience, Chips Away cannot match certain colours very well, Arctic Grey being one of them. Me and Ross have used the same guy and despite him being fantastic at his job, he couldn't match his Arctic Grey to my Arctic Grey...thats one of the reasons my 1.4 was sold. He claimed that silver is an awful colour to match, however black and red are very good.
The good thing is that their paint can very easily be removed without damaging the SEAT paint. Also if it doesn't match, they shouldn't charge you for the work.
anyone got an idea on how much these chip repariers charge?

I have the same car and colour mate, im from NIreland, i recently hit my car and left a big scrap and dent on it. I know i guy who does paint and body damage repairs and he is excellent, and he isnt hard to pay either, he does alot of contract work for Mercedes and BMW garages, i can give you his number if you want it.

Just joined your scratch club too. Small ( 4mm ) scratch on drivers door. Nothing malicious, just ' her indoors' cooing over the baby grandchild whilst bashing her handbag on the door at the same time :fool:
Lets hope Chipsaway can do the biz with Black Magic paint !

is that why you bought another silver beezer then tom :bleh: ;)
and blandit - it totally depends on what work needs doing, how big etc. My front bumper paint was done for £65 i think.
and deezal, if its anything like my scratch down the side which is right in the middle of the panel, chipsaway couldnt do it as there was no edge near for them to match up on, had to take it to a body shop to do the whole panel and blend into the door. grrr
