After much research and browsing this forum, I have got my first Seat.

Its a 2000W Toledo 1.8 SE 20V in metallic green. Just got 35k miles with fSsh. Picked it up for just under £6k, which I think is great value (I originally started looking for T/V reg Boras which had twice the miles for the same price, and lower spec etc etc etc).

Anyway, first impressions ...

I've always driven Jap cars. Driving a (German?) car is a whole new experience for me. Everything seems so solid and refined, and safe. There are just SO many neat little touches on the car - its just great. Everything is designed with a purpose - great attention to detail.

I drove it back from Birmingham (to Bradford) at about 70-80mph and got 42mpg on the tripcomp (i was using Cruise) which was unexpected, but welcomed.

Anyway, I have bought it expecting it to be nowhere as reliable as a Nissan. But i've got Seat warranty until 8/04, then I'll get an independant warranty. I figured that the VW mechanicals are tried and tested, and cant be too bad and the rest of the advantages simply outweigh the niggly problems that can beset some of these cars (if unlucky).

Its one of the few times that I've bought a car which I take for a drive (or even just sit in, and admire) for the hell of it.

I'd like to thank this forum for answering my previous posts and helping me make up my mind. I'll post a full review next week as there appears to be lots of people looking for advice on their first Seat.

Have a happy new year everyone.

Shomi.

Congrat's....

I've had mine for over 2yrs without major problems.
My biggest problem seems to be with the rear shock/strut bearings which start "poping" every 50000km.:(
