My Cat Back Milltek is banging and knocking all over the place, so i took my Cupra down to an exhaust centre ( who just happen to be a Powerflow agent..), and they said it cannot be aligned as it is a poor fit. if they adjust it to stop it banging on the side of the chassis, the tailpipes will be so far over they will be touching the rear Valence.
He suggested a Cat back Powerflow with two and a quarter inch steel piping. He reckons two and a half is not needed on this car, even thought its 200bhp+.
Anyone got a Powerflow? are they any good?? Or shall i stick with the Milltek and take it somewhere else?? is 2 and a half inch critical on a tuned 1.8t??
The only benefit of Powerflow i can think of is that i can choose a different tailpipe other than the conventional twin round offered by Milltek/Jetex/Scorpion.
Help!
Milltek make some of the best quality VAG exhausts.
Powerflow cobble together some elbows and bits of pipe / silencers to fit the car as they go.
I know what I'd do...

Powerflow like Longlife suk in the extreme.
Stay with 2.5" bore system.
My Miltek 2.5" system fits fine. Best to try elsewhere where they are not trying to sell you 'their' system.

Do what I did and spend half a day underneath the car adjusting it so that it doesn't knock anywhere. Get a pair of metal ramps, reverse the car up on to them, then grab the exhaust and shake it hard front to back, side to side. Find out where it's knocking (usually top of back axle if lowered, rear box on heat shield or centre pipe post-cat on tunnel shield) and then adjust until it stops. Take car for test drive, making sure to take some hard left/right turns, if it knocks at anytime, get it back on the ramps and repeat as necessary. Very few exhaust places (1 in 1000?) will take the time to fit and adjust a system properly so you're better off doing it yourself.
One other thing, the hangers for the rear box can be reversed and if not the right way around will allow too much slack so the box swings around more than it should. Only talking maybe 1-2cm here so it won't look blatantly wrong like a barry-mobile with a wonky twin pipe or one that's closer to the ground than it is to the car.
Like I said, it took me 1/2 a day to fit and adjust mine on my own but it doesn't knock whatsoever on road or track, with or without passengers, so it was 1/2 a day well spent.
dont go to powerflow they are crap. if its the one in crewe (onestop) i think its called they did a job on one of me old cars and it wasnt good! the hanger from the back box snapped 3 months later, pile of poo dont touch them.

Thanks a lot for the replies.
i think ill stick with the Milltek and get it properly aligned, perhaps take it off and refit with some better hangers/clamps.
After all, with Powerflow there is no Guarantee that the sound is going to be any good..it might be too Nova SR for my liking..:)
I have a Powerflow and i thnk it sounds great its not too loud or anything its just a nice little beefy rumble. Nothing Nova'ish about it!!
I defeintly rate Powerflow.

Nothing against Powerflow Linz, i have a lot of friends who have them and have had up to 3 years of trouble free motoring, in fact its fair to say the choice of tailpipes/sounds/styles is a real plus factor when goin for an exhaust, especially the new style of cutting rear bumpers away on cars, and crazy jap style pipes.
My Nova remark was probably ill founded, and for that i take back that comment, i guess the worry with Powerflow is that the performance and sound is a unknown quantity until you buy, where as a brand name has r&d put into it, plus you can hear the exhaust on other cars b4 you buy it.
guess its each to their own, but i will not discount getting one in the future.:p
im not 100% sure what is fitted to my car as it came with it when i got it, BUT i know its a powerflow rear box,and i think its a supersprint center section....
i want a miltek system i think, something that looks fairly standard, but will help performance, thing is i read somewhere miltek dont make the 2.5" system anymore...is the 2.5" vital for a 20vT which has been remapped?

got to say....
POWERFLOW SUCK!
i knocked my zorst the otherday on the way to work and when i got out in the carpark i saw the whole rear box was hanging on the join to the center section.
once the car was on ramps i found the very rear hanger had been removed and some bodge was there, and the front hanger for the back box wasnt in use at all and the prong on the back box hacksawed off....how gash!!!
i have sorted it now, its far better than it ever was, had to get a new hanger from seat tho and bent the prong on the back box to 90degrees (like std), rather than stright so it fitted in to the rubber.
I mean, they call em selves profesionals?!!
needless to say, new zorst system is going on asap:)

I fit Millteks every day.
And though some need minor 'tweekage' they dont usually knock anywhere especially the Ibiza Cupra one.
Maybe you had a duff one (rare but some get damaged in transit), where was it fitted?
