went for a spirited drive today,on my lonesome,so was able to give it a bit.
i am now getting a noise from the off side front wheel, the wheels tight.i can only hear it when cornering or when giving it some lock at low speed, forwards and reverse heard it quite clearly reversing up onto my drive.
i presume if it was a wheel bearing i would hear it all the time(read the FAQ on cgti).
cars going up on some ramps tomorow night hopefully, anything i should be looking for??

this could be related to my down pipe woes but knowing my luck

Had this in the ibiza. Ended up being the upper bearing (the one located in the strut bushing). Sometimes happened going forward when steering locked or almost always in reverse.

Possibly a CV joint? Tired bushes? Balljoint? Loose nuts/bolts somewhere (e.g. wishbone pivot, subframe, ARB mounts...)?

new theory is,an engine mount.i'm still getting a slight knock side to side when turning in out of a bend ,but just been getting it on excelleration.oh fcuk knows!!!! i'll soon find out hopefully:mad:

i do feel better though, came round a bend to be faced by a copper, waving me down, still had the police slow sign under his arm,he looked very scared in my main beam.guy in a honda 2000(?)stuck it backwards into someones garden.

went to my local tyre centre, asked if they would check me zorst and heat sheild, this they duly did, nothing, welds are fine underneath, the ally heat sheild is fine all the hangers fine.
then we have a look at the wishbones and anti roll bar mounts, nothing.
everything "looks" fine, and its only knocked once on the same road tonight:confused:

anyone know the front engine mount number?changing it anyway ;)

I don't know if this'll help, but the rear engine mount is said to be the weak one on the 16v. Had a few people (including my local mechanic) tell me this.
