View Full Version : Ibiza/Cordoba Pedal Box
My clutch pedal in my 98 Cordoba with a cable operated clutch has started clonking when I press the clutch.
Looking through other posts it looks like a new cable or new pedal box is required. The dealer seems to confirm this and says it is a big (expensive!!) job.
Has anyone else had this fixed on a Ibiza or Cordoba and know how much it is likely to cost?
Also is there a way of fixing the box insitu or is it worth a go at just replacing the cable?
Cheers!!
sounds like part of the pedal box has snapped off.
it's a fairly envolved job, I was going to do it on my ibiza as I spotted it when the dash came out.
in the end I bought a new box for about £40 from the dealer.
IIRC haynes does rate it as a 3 spanner job, so it's not impossible, but will take you a while.

Looks like my weekend is going to be spent in the footwell....
my cordie has done it once recently.looks like it may be going sooner than the mrs thinks:mad:
Looks pretty involved to me. As I can't see how you could do it without taking the dash out, and perhaps even dissassembling part of the steering column?
We still haven't got round to changing this in the TT (which doesn't even have a dash) as it still looks like an arse to do.

How much did it cost to have done?
got mine done cost me £169 inc vat at seat dealer
according to aa man when he came says that the first part snapped about a year or so after the car was made as it had gone rusty and the spot weilds at the factory did not penetrate properly spoke to seat uk who basically said that if the car had still been serviced at a seat dealer after the warranty they may have given me something as a gesture of good will but being as (quote) "serviced at a back street garage then bob off) told the dizzy b1tch that the firm i work for has more dealers than probably seat uk :D
anyway did not get me any where

I had mine repaired as well. The box had to come out and get welded. The labour charge was the biggest part as it takes AGES to do. I think it cost about 200 quid to fix.
I guess I am going to be stung by South East Labour rates.
I have been quoted about 70 quid for a new pedal box which will probably be required as the old one is very badly cracked.
I am really gutted as am expecting to take delivery of a new car in march, if only it could have held another 8 weeks!!!! Sods law....
well joe sp if it helps my bill was as follows
1x 6k2 721 335a cable £27.00
1x 6k2 721 115d bracket £54.00
1x 1h2 721 169 mounting £3.71
not saying those prices/part no's are the same for yours perhaps one of the other users can help in checking those numbers etc
p.s mines a 98 8v 2.0 cupra
:jog:
Thanks for the price info.
Mine is a 98 1.6 SE Cordoba. I doubt the parts or prices will be that different as both have a cable operated clutch?

I have phoned around the dealers, the Swindon dealer has quoted me 160 plus VAT which is not too bad considering Camberley Seat Quoted 458 plus VAT and Southampton 269 plus VAT. Unbelievable differences in prices to do the same job!! Guess which one I have booked it in with!
Does that include parts, or just the labour? Doesn't seem like a bad price either way.
160 includes parts, labour and a loan car. :)
