View Full Version : Which alarm to get?
I am planning on getting a cupra very soon and was wondering what alarms people are running? spoke to a guy today and he said i just need to get and alarm to upgrade the standard cat 2 immobiliser to a cat 1, but it is the same price to have a full cat 1 fitted as to upgrade?
What to do?
make sure the fitter is thatcham approved and just get him/her fit the alarm.make sure you speak to the insurance first.see what they want, theres been a few arguments over insurance and the cupra(hope you're not with tesco).
has it not got an alarm on it? or do you want a better one?
welcome to cupra net btw:cheers:
Not sure if the car will have an alarm fitted or not yet. Will contact the insurance company tomorrow to find out. What sort of problems have you heard about with the cupra and insurance?
Cheers for the welcome!

Tesco cr@p only applies to mk2 and not mk3. I know as I have both insured by tesco!
I got a Cobra 2 to 1 upgrade. It is an alarm that uses the standard immobiliser and creates a full that. cat 1 system. This is approved by tesco. The mk3 didn't need any extra security (it has an alarm and cat2 immobiliser as standard) for the insurance, and from what I hear, they are pretty good anyway.
Hope this helps.
Thanks guys! Will ask insurance if i don't need to upgrade more money to spend on other things!!:D

you dont get any crap with from TESCO anymore about the standard security requirements on a mk3 ibiza cupra sufficing-due to me taking legal action against the *******s.(out of court settlement in the end resolved it)
trust me steer well clear of TESCO insurance like the plague and I could link you too other car forums that will echo these coments.

nice car by the way!
if you are still looking to upgrade your security give the Toad Ai606 a try. i've had it on my corsa for a couple of years now and have had no problems. it's a good alarm system with plenty of features.

Cheers for that then Danny :p
I agree with your comments on Tesco. I'm changing at the end of my policy to directline. Only another 3 weeks to go, yey!

No idea, but directline are always slightly cheaper, charge HALF the extra for mods, ALWAYS do things when you ask, are helpful, sort out claims within DAYS rather than weeks.
Go figure
All I knkow is that directline are THE ONLY insurance company not to have screwed me in some way, and cos of this, I'm going back to them!
