I've just collected my Leon from APR in Daventry after the upgrade and am very impressed. Not had time to do many miles yet but it feels very fast :)
Special thanks to Mark and Richard at APR for the loan of their chipped Ibiza for the day. That was a fun drive.

I now have APR EMCS and Cruise Control with Standard, 95 Octane Performance, 98 Octane Performance and Valet Mode installed. With a tank full of Optimax and the 98 Octane program the car really does fly. :)

Got to try it on the normal work run tomorrow. Watch this space!

What almost made me smile as much as driving the Leon was that those very nice people at Tesco Motor Insurance only increased my premium by £30.

What did you actually say you'd done to it then? that seems very reasonable asthey wanted an extra £100 for changing my wheels to 17"

Just driven into work as normal. What a difference! The mid range torque is incredible!
It took about 20miles of driving for the ECU to re-learn and settle down. When I picked the car up from APR yesterday it felt a bit 'lumpy' when accelerating and on the overrun but now it feels very smooth and just pulls and pulls and pulls in any gear.
Smiles all round at the moment. :D

As for the Insurance:
I just told the insurance company that I had an engine modification consisting of an ECU chip change that produced an extra 15% horsepower.

Nice one Nick glad your enjoying your new chip.

Mines going to APR very soon to be done, ive already had the cruise fitted :)

Just taken a little longer due to technical issues regarding the removal of my Oettinger chip :p

Insurance is how you word it, and Nick you worded it spot on, ;) thats just what i did for my Oettinger chip and Direct Line added only £45 to my premium.

Key thing is never mention faster or powerful in the conversation :) Just state the truth, that it is an ECU remap producing 10-15% more horsepower.

The more complicated you make it sound the more money they stick on it :)

Well i've had a week playing with all my new toys. Spent most of the time with 98 octane program and I'm still smiling :D
Just filled up another tank of Optimax. Fuel consumption on the last tank was 28mpg. I think that's pretty good, i've had worse, and I have been using all the extra grunt the chip gives me a lot over the last week ;)

On the down side I think the standard dump valve is on the way out. Lots of loud slurping noises coming from under the bonnet when you lift off. It wasn't doing that at the beggining of last week. But I was already planning to replace it anyway.

that sounds like pretty good fuel consumption to me for a 200+ chip!
