Ok, ive been looking at kkk turbos and just the K03/K03s alone there are dozens of variations both used in the 150/180-bhp engine. However it isnt nessecerily a K03 sport if its in a 180 engine and vice versa for the K03 and 150 engine.
So does anyone know how to distinguish the two??
Maybe a borg warner part number list??
Thanks
Mike

What I do know is the K3 is used on the ibiza and golfs and the K3s is for the leon cupra and the K4 is for the Leon cupra r and TT225,
Best person to ask is Ben AKA roly, hes a mate of mine who works at SEAT parts
Ibiza 1.8t K03 (150/156hp)
Ibiza 1.8t Cupra R K03 (180hp)
Leon Cupra/tt post 2000 K03s (180hp)
Leon Cupra R/tt/s3 K04-023 (210hp/225hp)
Golf 1.8t pre 2000 K03 (150hp)
Golf 1.8t post 2000 K03s (150hp)
The only one I'm not 100% on is
Leon Cupra/tt pre 2000 K03(180hp)

a;lready have. But the best he can and has done is give me the applications. However most turbos are used on the 150bhp and 180bhp cars so doesnt really help
if you check jabba's site you get mixed views on what to exspect with the different variants of k03s turbos. vvt engines give you more G G S But speaking to mike he says to expect 225bhp minimum from using a k03 sport on an ibiza. the problem is sourcing a k03sport which you know 4 sure is a k03sport.

A list of KKK turbochargers for several cars can be seen here: http://www.turbodriven.com/en/productsearch/index.asp
As far as I know the "K03sport" turbos all have the K04 compressor wheel which only has four pair of vanes as against the standard six pair of vanes and has 50 mm diameter compared to the K03's 45mm. Furthermore the compressor inlet diameter is 2mm larger on the inside (you need a different inlet pipe on the K03sport too).
That are the experiences I made when I changed from standard to the late 180 hp 1.8T's turbocharger (06A145713D).

seems that the link dont work???
I know the inlte diamater is 1mm bigger from what i was told by people who sell the inlet pipes (fairy liquid and elbow grease will sort thsat out!) :D
Dont wanna sound dumb but VANES??
and you say 50mm compaed to 40mm?? What is?
Also I found that some have a 39.5mm compressor housing some have 37mm but this doestn seem to correspond with K03s only!

Link works for me, shouldn't be a problem.
The total diameter of the compressor wheels are 50mm (K04/K03s) and 45mm (K03). Inside diameter of the inlets are 38mm (K03s) and 36mm (K03). The one mm difference concerns the outside diameter of the inlet where the inlet pipe fits onto (45mm vs 44mm).

the other thing i was told is the k03s are silver, k03 white and others are black in colour?

the type plates have different colors, but I think this isn't a reliable source for information. I've seen K03 sports with blue and black type plates, better to look at the compressor wheel style.

I got the T version which seems to go on all 180 cars (no 150 listed) so hopefully everything will go ok.
Thanks anyway.

So that would make it the 704 D, T, S models then! and possibly the TX and DX as they are not listed but maybe a variation of the first leter.
If thats true tho, That would mean the majority of turbos fitted to 180bhp cars are NOT K03 sports!!!! including the Leon

Models with "X" at the end are factory rebuild turbos! And are the same as without "X", but are about 33% cheaper, because are not new (but they are as good as new ones - theoreticaly).
All parts from VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda with "X" at the end are factory rebuild parts and cheaper then brand new ones.
That means the one i was looking at is off a loen 150 bhp. Dam nevermind i keep looking around.
Thanks for the imformation though.

the bloke who tuned my car said all 180bhp and over use the bigger 04 turbo.including tha ibiza cupra r.which is why they tune up better but im only going on what im told...(he did know his stuff)
since it has got lots of vanes (6 pairs) i guess it is not a sport one.

the man is correct but the 180 cars do have a K03 turbo which inside has a K04 impellor
The ibiza R has the same turbo as a cupra

not with SEAT's he doesnt ;)
156bhp Standard Ibiza Cupra uses the K-03 turbo.
180bhp Standard Ibiza Cupra R still uses the K-03 turbo, its only a software change that takes it to 180bhp
180bhp Standard Leon Cupra uses K-03 Sport turbo
210/225bhp Standard Leon Cupra R uses k-04 turbo
clears it up for ya
