View Full Version : Polo Aero Wipers - do they fit?

Theres been a lot of talk about the Golf Aero wipers for the Leon. I've also seen that the Polo now has Aero Wipers (front & rear) and wondered if they fit the Mk4 Ibiza. I presume they will so does anyone know the part numbers and prices at all? Presumably, like the Leon, you'll need the arms as well as the wipers.
Why is it SEAT use sh1t wipers? My Leon had cr@p ones from new and my Ibiza's wipers are only marginally better:confused:

Mine wipe certain areas of the windscreen, sods law that it not the parts where i have to look out of!:(
Just wondered if the Aero wipers fitted though as they are supposed to be good, if they aren't a stoopid price (like i think the Golf ones are - £80ish for the arms & wipers:eek: ) then i might consider them. If they are a daft price then i'll look at these silicon PIAA ones or just go to Halfords and get some Bosch ones.

I don't know if that works, but thats the rear aero wiper for the MK6, they are £10.99+VAT
They (www.vagparts.com) don't have the front ones listed yet, but I'll look into it when I get the time (I'm currently in a lesson and my hand is bleeding!)

I've asked Martyn (who runs the site) about the front ones, he should get back to me in a day or two.
I saw a Polo 9N with them on earlier and they look quite funky :)

£15 inc VAT and delivery. Do you know how long delivery normally takes mate?
Keep me updated on the fronts too as if they are not a daft price (like the Golf one for the Leon) i'll probably order some of them too in a few weeks

You can buy the actual wipers out of halfords, there Bosch Aero.
Its just the wiper arms you need. I am sure a guy on SE has tried it on the Mk 4 and found it wasnt great on the rear. I was just about to do front and rear before I sold up and moved on.
Its about £75 the lot i think.

Oh well, i need a new rear one anyway so i'll see how it goes. The front ones i sh1te too but at £60 they'll either have to wait a bit

I've just saw on ETKA that the rear wiper arm of the SEAT IBIZA MK4 is the same with the one used in POLO 9N, only the first 3 numbers change which are the chassis code. So for ex.
SEAT IBIZA MK4 rear wiper arm is 1J6 955707A
VW POLO 9N rear wiper arm is 6Q6 955707A
The only thing changing is the wiper blade so,
SEAT IBIZA MK4 rear wiper arm is 1J6 955427 which is a 350mm VALEO
VW POLO 9N rear wiper arm is 6Q6 955425A which is an AERO
I haven't actually seen those in direct compare but i guess someone can further investigate it and let us know.

I cant see how you can fit an Aero blade on a standard wiper arm, unless bosch have come up with a universal fitting?
I've got the aero wipers and arms on my TDI sport the part no.s are;
Drivers side:
Arm - 6Q2 955 410 B £21.12 +vat
Wiper - 1J2 955 426 A £9.23 "
Passenger side:
Arm - 6Q2 955 409 B £21.12 "
Wiper - 1J2 955 425 A £10.66 "
These part no.s are for '03 models and older, replace B with A for '02 models
The rear arm will need replacing if you want to use an aero blade can't remember the cost but it wasn't cheap!
The only problem you will have is that the passenger side arm is 2cm longer than the original, so the blade just overhangs the window screen by about 1cm, but for me it's no big deal.

LH arm £15.61+vat
RH arm £15.61+vat
LH aero blade £8.78+vat
RH aero blade £9.32+vat
The nut covers are 44p each +vat. Delivery is £4 by 1st class.

I just got the Golf aerowipers and Polo rear aerowiper from VAG Parts, £64 for the fronts and £11 for the rear - gonna fit them all this weekend. The Polo rear wiper is slightly shorter than the Fabia one, so we'll see how much of the Leon rear screen it clears. They all look very nice and well made too.
VAG Parts haven't got the Golf wipers listed but I emailed them the part codes and they ordered them in for me, took about a week to come.
My rear wiper has now started to scrunge and chop at the back window in anything other than torrential rain (that'll teach me for being smug on page 1 :D).
The 1.2 loan Ibiza I had last whilst mine was being serviced didn't do it, so I'm wondering if it needs a new blade.
Anyone else got a noiser wiper? (Fnar, fnar) :D

Chris, it's probably because the plade has "set" at an angle over time. When you start the first wipe the blade tip is being "pushed" along the glass rather than wiping at right angles, and makes a horrendous noise in the process. Mine's just the same, will probably be cured by a new blade. will get the dealer to fit one next time it's in (covered on the SMT contract).
Good point on the SMT - I should have mentioned it to Premier when I had my 20k service last week. Mind, I didn't mention my glove box sticking and they fixed that :)
