Wish I could read german better.... But that seems to easy.... Only half of the connections that I have on my Leon?!?!

theres loads of those cheap PD tuning boxes on ebay. its cause all they are is a £2 resistor... have a look in the TDI Faq for evry mod. same as what ian (driveforward) has got.
Interesting though, I've looked at the pics that Ian (Drivef.) has on his site & this one from EBay at circa £25 - Looks very simular, are we just saying that this box has just a resistor in it>>??<<
I dont think thats what Ian's is.....
Mine on the Leon, has a connection to the Maf as well....
Arh Bammer will stay stock for a while longer me thinks....
the tuning boxes the PD engines are just resistors, as discussed here :-
http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27267
this is what ian has.
but the tuning boxes for the older 90 and 110 engines, thus not PD ones are not just resistors, these older style tuning boxes change the quantity of fuel injected thus plug in at the fuel pump.

If the tuning box plugs into the fuel temp sender connector, and doesn't connect anywhere else, then it can only be a resistor in a box...
Save your £25 - just buy a connector & wire from your nearest VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda dealer, a resistor from Maplins, solder them together, plug it in and you have your own tuning box for under a fiver...also known as the EVRY mod. (The equivalent on non-PD engines is known as the "Beer" mod). If you're a real cheapskate, just get a resistor, fold the ends of its legs over and push it into the connector on the car, and cover it with insulation tape :D
All this does is fool the ECU into thinking the fuel is hotter and therefore less dense than it really is, so more fuel gets injected.
If a tuning box has other connections, maybe to the MAF or elsewhere, then it's likely to contain a little more sophistication...
EDIT: Just looked at that Ebay link, the picture does show it connecting to the fuel temp sender, so yep - it's just a resistor in a box.

Enough said cheers Muddyboots

thought as much, just wanted to see what you guys would say about it !!! ;) :D:D
Just be careful with the resistance or you'll be producing so much soot that you'll eventually clog the CAT.
Hi,
Yes it may well just be a resistor but try the one advertised on that German site....I have and can with 110% confidence say that its bloody great! I am not sure what ohms its set on but it goes like a rocket from hell! I have a mate with a re-map (www.digitaltuning.ch) and even though he gets ahead top end theres not enough difference to justify a re-map, for me anyway. I also like the fact that I can un-plug it and not affect the warranty.
My car stock was 142bhp with 320NM, now after having it Dyno-tested yesterday with perfect temperature conditions it read after (3) tests
170bhp with (380)NM!!!
My mates Ibiza Sport stock was 140bhp with around 320NM(not sure exactly the NM, after a re-map its now kicking out 183bhp with 410NM.
Then again another client with yes an Ibiza Sport standared got 400NM with 170bhp (re-map www.digitaltuning.ch).
From my experience when the mods begin theres always great results but not always the exact same of another car with an identical spec.
Anyway for sure this 1.9 TDI PD unit was begging for more power from day one. I waited until around 20,000 miles until I got it boxed and the next mod will be the Shit-Pipe.
Oh yeah, one bad thing from having my motor modded is that the fronts seem to be wearing down VERY quickly. Maybe a set of new sorted tyres ahould be the next mod to carry out? Any suggestions would be welcome..........cheers

Andro, which site , or have I missed something, cheers
the one mentioned above is www.digitaltuning.ch but its based in Switzerland.....not sure if they have a branch in England...its more Italian orientated. Was that the site you were asking about?
Cheers
The site where I bought my box is under construction.....
www.tdi-tuning.ag.vu
Not sure when it will be up.....but if you want the email of the guys I am sure they will send some info.

being bored and generally pissed off last night, I decided to take apart to PD TDI tuning box I'd got, and never used...
inside the black plastic box, is a small resisitor, coated in black rubberised plastic, presumably to waterproof it and stuff.
After hacking away the black rubber stuff, the resistor is:
blue background
Gold band, which iirc indicates 5%+/- tolerance.
From left to right (with gold band on the right)
the rings are:
Brown, Green, Black, Black.
I've forgotten how to work out resistance :S - but think that works out at 150ohm (or did I work it out wrong).
anyway, just had a quote from adrian flux for my car post revoing, so will probably get that done.

I thought as much. I too have forgotten how to work out resistor codes, but 150ohm is generally accepted as the lowest you can go without throwing a fault - so I suspect you're right.
