Regards,
Make sure you have all the ECU bits and encoder stuff for the ignition etc...
If in doubt ask Jabbasport or Dubsport.
they are old hands at this.

Would it be best to buy a donor car or buy the engine, box and other stuff ?.
One question, would it be a problem with the clocks ?, would I need to use the seat ones ?
Leon = 13k 2nd hand
Engine & box from AmD - 3.5k much better!!

Not the same but similar..
A customer of mine has recently helped his friend install the full running gear of a few week old Ibiza 20VT into his 16v Ibiza. They were staggered that it was only 6 bolts to drop the whole subframe with everything still attached off the rolled 20VT and bolt it straight onto the 16v Ibiza and - hey presto - engine ,g'box, power steering, front legs, all installed.
Whether it is the same for a MK2 Golf compared to the donor you might have...
The wiring took them a little longer, as they also converted the 16v Ibiza into a RHD, swapping dash etc etc etc. The only part not transportable was the rear beam, but the stubs were carried over, with disks etc.

WHY??????
This isn't a dig, I'm just trying to understand why anyone would want to go through this much effort? Perhaps this is why I've got a standard car. I just don't get it?
Cheers

It is because his original 16v Ibiza was LHD and worthless in the UK. He bought it cheap and was stuck with it when trying to sell it. It cost him approx £4500 for the car I think and £2500 for the rolled 6 week old Ibiza 20VT. For £7000 and some effort he has a new to look at 20VT. Add to that he sold the 16v engine and inlet manifolds to friends and he has bought himself a nice little cheap converted Ibiza, and made it RHD also.
Interestingly, they had to fit the 20VT front end on to accomodate all the radiators etc.. The rear hatch was the only thing which lets you know its the older model apparently. He has fitted the Seat hatch opener into his old hatch also.... Very well done I am told.
Hope this explains things a little.

Bill - was this Ibiza rolled up a tree?
I only ask this as I know of one with PI springs on it & a whooshy dump valve (red probably too) that had been stacked whilst very very new.

was it really that straight forward bill?
i've spent alot of time money and effort on my 16v mk2but want the 20vt engine when mine dies (only on 87000) i want the f2 look with the more tunable modern engine , but when the time comes this seems like a very good option:cheers:

I don't know.
All they said was it had skidded down the road on its roof for a fair distance and worn a hole through the roof!
This was in Scotland.

The guys are experienced on VW's and the main guy built his Rally Golf with his mates.
They said they were amazed at how easy it was though, given the smashed 20VT they had to rob the bits off.
Subframe and all its attached parts went straight on.

Hi
If you still need the parts, There's a guy selling a TT 225hp engine and all the necessary parts for a transplant on the Audi forum,
