View Full Version : Photo's, colours, iPods and greetings...
Evening all... I've not been around these parts for bloomin' ages, since selling my LCR years ago. I've got a new Exeo SE Tech on the way to me though so thought it only polite to drop back in and say hi :)
As I'm already like a kid at Christmas, I thought I'd see if anyone has any photos of their Exeo they would like to share? If anyone owns a white SE Tech saloon, the exact model I've ordered, photos would be massively appreciated :D
Also, a couple of questions if I may...
How are people finding the iPod connection and Bose stereo? Good quality? It seemed so on the trial car I had for a few days but living with it might reveal more. Any compatibility problems with your iPod? Control OK? Generally pleased?
And how long did yours take to arrive? Mine was ordered last week and I'm hoping to see it before Christmas. Is this realistic?
Cheers all :)
Rob
Ah.. one more question if I may.
Does the standard Sat Nav display driving directions on the little colour screen between the dials? The trial one I had didn't come with the DVD so I couldn't test this :(
Bose..spot on:D
iPod connection very dissapointing:cry:
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but all I use my iPod connection for is charging my iPhone.
Before I took delivery of mine - just short of two weeks ago- I read that the iPod connection is an extension of the cd changer thus you end up with 6 playlists on the iPod that are basically displayed as six CDs . I thought I could live with this and created 6 playlists but Unfortunately even though the playlist play ok they display NO track info so it's as basic as it gets:confused:
However , all is not lost, if you utilize the SD slots - they work spot on:D

Yes it does ,albeit very basic directions, i try not to pay much attention to it.
Good news and bad news then... I was hoping for more from the iPod connection. Fortunately I do tend to use shuffle a lot, so it might be good for me still. If not, a dock extension cable might be worth a go.
I used the SD slots when I had the demo car, but the downside is a lot of my music is in iTunes .aac format which it wouldn't play.
The directions on the little display was a curiosity more than anything, what sort of info does it display?
Huge thanks for your help :)
I doubt a dock extension will alter anything really apart from where the ipod is kept/ mounted?
I would spend some time converting your music to mp3, I had to do the same myself, bloody pain in the arse and whilst on the subject I'm very anal when it comes to id3 tags- I spent hours making sure that all tracks displayed the correct info- some have slipped thorugh though:rolleyes:
The aux input could be handy for the iPod though although obviously all control would be via the ipod itself.
As for the central nav display, all that is displayed is an arrow with the next turn displayed, as I say very basic , handyish if the main display is selected for something else temporarily though..

Sorry... the dock extension cable comment was half an idea, the other half was in my head.
I was thinking two things... first, if I bring the iPod closer to me, can I control tracks/albums directly from it? I suspect not, as I think the iPod control locks out the screen doesn't it?
Second, I could extend the dock connection and hook it up to the Brodit Passthrough iPhone 4 mount. Then when I connect my iPhone it will hook up to the iPod connection and I can play music through it. If this works, I can choose the album from the phone but control volume and track selection from the car.
Have you or anyone tried an iPhone in the iPod connection? Do you still have full control over the phone? If so, this is my new favourite option :)
If you have an iPod touch/ iPhone as opposed to a 'normal' iPod and it's jailbroken, I seem to recall there being an app available to prevent being ' locked out' haven't tried it though..

Cheers... I watched a couple of videos of the iP4 being used with various VW models and it didn't lock it out, but did display the warning about the accessory not being optimised, blah blah blah. I think this is because the charging pin is different, which you can buy adapters for, so if the VW iPod connection is the same as the Seat one, things could be looking up :)

Pffft, I'm not allowed to post url's yet, so just do a google for Dension Gateway 100.
It means that I can press CD3 and scan through my ipod albums using the sterring wheel - CD2 is artists, CD1 playlists. The name of the artist/album/track is shown on the screen between the clocks.

That looks pretty sweet actually... If I understand it correctly, it just sits inbetween the current iPod connection and your iPod itself, but increases the functionality as a result?
Just read the installation manual and it doesn't seem like that at all, it seems more like an iPod connection for cars that don't have one already.

Yeah RobM, that's right. It is an extension to your existing setup. It emulates being a CD changer, but gives extra functionality. You can switch back to your normal CD changer/USB/aux connection using the menu. Given the poor implementation of the Seat system, this was a must for me. I think the iPod connector works better if you have the NAV upgrade?
I am hoping the Nav upgrade improves the iPod control to be honest, as you have much more scope for control. I really like the idea of having my entire music library on board so I do hope it works.
Thanks for your help :)
