View Full Version : A warranty question.. I'm a bit confused

Got told by my local dealer that the discs are warped on my Ibiza and would be replaced under warranty, which is great.

However, they are saying that I will have to pay for the pads.

Now, I'm not tight, but in my mind if the discs have warped and the pads need to go with the discs, then surely the pads should be covered?

Is that too logical or am I being unreasonable?

I know the pads can be ground down but that's a rubbish solution, the pads need changing at the same time, the discs warped requiring the work, therefore.....

Would appreciate any comments :)

pads are cheap anyway & will most likely already have worn out (warrantee does not cover wear & tear)

buy some Pagid FR's for £35 or so & give em to the dealer to fit.

FR5051 IIRC is the part number I think you want.

I guess nobody else has a view on this then, or maybe I have unrealistic expectations... I just thought the point of the warranty was supposed to be a no cost remedy to any manufacturing problems.

Just me then ;)

I think what Mark's saying is that the pad's aren't a manufacturing defect, they've simply worn out. If the pad's had been recently changed and the warped discs had damaged them you could probably make a case for having them replaced under warranty as well but I agree with Mark, go for a set of decent pads while you've got the opportunity.

Fair do's I will accept the wisdom of the forums :)

Well, I've only had the car since the end of November when I bought it for the wife...

So do I phone these Awesome GTI people up and tell them I want the Pagids for a Corrado then?

I take they're mail order suppliers.

[EDIT] Can someone just confirm it's these ones please? Sorry If I'm being all needy :D :-

No mate bought it used from Great Covert, it's a Jan 02 one so still under the warranty..

I took it to them for something unrelated and they spotted the discs had warped, I bought it with 29k on the clock, a bit high but the wife won't drive it an awful lot so that'll come back into line.

It's now got about 32k cos I'm using it for work 'til my car turns up in March

Corrado G60 is what you want for Ibiza 20VT. Try Andy @ Redline if u r buying mail order, or if u have a GSF in your locale they might be just as cheap.
