Changing Interior Lights **GUIDE**

[VRSLOZ]

Tools/Parts needed :

LED CanBus 501 Bulbs
LED White 264 Bulb (Will update when I get mine)
Hands
Tissue or toilet paper
Kitchen knife
Sock

Car used :

10 Plate Ibiza 1.4 SC Sport

Time needed :

3-4 Minutes max

Difficulty :

1/5 - Everyone can do this!

I'll be using these bulbs :

Cost £8.00 for x2 on Ebay

Other bulbs can be used

You'll start with this, mmmmmmmmmm standard!

Get your kitcen knife, put it in the cotten sock (thinnest) and push it under the right hand side of the cover.

If done correctly you should be able to run the knife under the entire edging of the plastic bulb cover and it should pop off, you now need to slide it towards the windscreen to take it off.

You will be greeted with this :

Same way as always to get the 501 bulbs out (right and left bulbs), grab tissue and place over the bulbs, pull downwards and put in a safe place. Put tissue over the new bulbs and push them into the holders.

If done right you should have :

The 264 bulb is just as simple, put tissue over the bulb and push it either to the left of right while pulling downwards, this will free the bulb and you can put it somewhere safe. Put your tissue over the new bulb, put it in one side and push on the bulb a little whichever side you put it in and push up, the bulb should go straight into the holder.

If done correctly you should have this :

Take your cover and place the 2 pins in position before pushing it back into place :

And that's it, your interior has a new shine! Enjoy!

I did try to get a white bulb from Halfords today but they aren't the best.............

Lol yup pretty bright, it looks a little blue in that picture but it's more white than it shows, can't wait to get the middle bulb sorted!

OK as the 264 bulb is now in I decided to get some more night pictures. I love the look of the interior at night now, it is a lot brighter but looks so cool in my opinion :

Worth mentioning that the plastic cover bit is attached by two little prongs at the long edge nearest the rear of the car and general grippyness round the other edges so you don't actually need to use a knife at all, Just pull down from the long edge nearest the windscreen and it'll come right off.

I've done similar setup on Altea, plus extra stripe as well, as these leds are not bright enough for when I'm looking for stuff kids drop between the seats. Picture to come.

My leds (W5W) are still ON even when I close my doors the Festoon (the bigger one in the Midle) turns OFF completely...

They keep a bit of voltage I believe... and It sucks :blink:

Check if lights at the rear are OFF. Coincidentally I've found out today that if interior light et the rear are off , and I mean off position, front ones glow a bit. Make sure you have all lights on auto, off when doors closed and on when they are open that is. And report back please, I'm very curious if it sorts your problem out.

But when I close the doors, or lock the car, they still give a little bit of light.

Leds voltage are too low I believe...

i have just tried putting the White 264 Bulb in the boot compartement, just so that i have LEDs all around...its a little short to fit in the casing but with a little bending and tweaking, it fits and lights up the boot nicely!! :D

I have the same problem as CyborgCupraJQ.
My interior light its always with voltage, you can see a small light on the led.
I think we have to change a fuse to lower the voltage.
Anyone has a clue ?

Sorry for dragging up an old topic, but haven't actually done my interior yet. Just about to order the bulbs when I thought of something that I kept hearing people say.

Has everybody who has done this experienced the slight dim when they lock the car?
I remember people saying there was always still a slight glow. If that is most cases, i'll stick to the yellow manky light lol.

Completed my Light change yesterday along with putting my extreme vinyls on, this was really easy to do the lights!

I replaced the 2 side fron bulds with orange leds now awaiting delivery for my blue leds for the centre and boot, will be a rave soon :P

Does anyone know if the 501 map reading lights have to be CanBus if fitting an LED bulb? I'm presuming from the centre LED 264 bulbs people have used that they dont have to be CanBus?
