View Full Version : The REAL advantages of uprated dv?
What are the REAL advantages of using an uprated dump valve?
I have a forge dv007p on my 20vt and since I have never driven an Ibiza with a standard dv, I don't know the difference it makes.
Is it just that the standard plastic dv's are cr@p and prone to boost loss, or is it that an uprated one will help reduce turbo lag?
Is it worth uprating the dv on a standard car? I have Revo, so is the dv doing me any good, or just doing the job of the standard dv, but more reliably?
Questions, questions......
I only ask as almost every 20vt owner on here swaps the dv's straight away!

your questions answered (I hope)

Mine always had a Forge DV006P on it from new so I did'nt know what stock was like... so i reverted to the stock one and it felt more lethargic between gear changes... more laggier, less pepp if that makes sense.

Agree. no extra power but spool up was affected less between gear changes.

shite thats what they are like
2 dvs failed and a 3rd fitted incorrectly by the ever so well trained SEAT "technician".
In the end Awesome GTI came to my rescue and installed the forge 007p along with full APR software which was nice :D
First of all , even if you can't get more power from the forge dv the turbo lag reduction helps gain split seconds , or doesn't it? And second of all, the whoosh sound effect is very nice :)

There isn't one! It's not an atmospheric dv so there is not whoosh sound!
Even with Revo I don't have any whoosh and didn't when I had a dynatwist either. Not that I'm complaining, I prefer the engine to be as quiet as possible.
I'd have to argue with you because a friend of mine has just tuned a renault 5 gt turbo and had a forge dv valve installed...the sound was unbelieveble, so a don't really know why your car is so quiet
The R5 GTT DV is probably an atmospheric one where as the 20VT DV's are re-circ. Thats why it's louder on the R5 GTT.
Got it! thanx for the intel
