Just found this for those who want to ballet dance while driving.

Just remember that Fly By Wire Throttle cars won't allow simultaneous brake & throttle for more than ....whatever it is..... 0.75secs ? :dunno:

You can still H&T but it demands more of a "stabbing" motion on the throttle - more difficult to get a smoothe change, but it comes with time. :)

I know, but I posted this in a thread elsewhere for LDoR and thought it might be useful for others here too. Or just get an 'old' car:p

An unusual spate of accidents occured today, inviolving Seat cars running into the rear of other vehicals.

Drivers were shocked to find that they acctually werent Jackie Stewart!!

SBF obviously continues to use the cow-milking technique he learned for steering whilst learning.

Anything else would be simply dangerous FFS!

In all seriousness - it's even more important in a rwd car.

Braking hard means big weight transfer forwards ~ bringing up the clutch for a lower gear without matching the revs in advance can (with the engine braking adding to the "real" braking already being applied) cause the rears to lock momentarily..... may just be enough to get you entering the corner nice & sideways.

and if that don't work use the handbrake...

Cran

but remember to turn in before you pull the handbrake or you'll just go straight on and look like a twat

It's alright for you with four arms.... he's not Jackie Stewart you know! :p

Ahh, sweet, thanks edc.

I really used to think that i was supposed to use the heel of my foot but each time i tried it i ended up doing it with the side of my foot.

So i was right by myself.

I'll try it on the way home tonight.

Hopefully i won't crash :D

next lesson, left foot braking

Thought I'd stick THIS VIDEO LINK (http://www.radicalmotorsport.com/gallery/mv_feet.mpg) at the end of this thread.

Superb example of H & T and the driver (in a radical XTR4 I think) is also using the clutch as a traction control / anti-bog-down device.

11+ Meg but worth it ~ don't let the wife catch you though cos you will get the straaaangest look regardless of your excuse :hide:

Who won?

Saw it up until that big off by that Kwacker. Ouch. I heard he was okay? Then I saw they'd red flagged it with eight laps to go, but didn't see the rest.

Looked like it was warming up to be an excellent race, How fast were the Hondas on the straight and how fast was Rossi through the bends...

Monkey-man Rossi won by a couple of lengths from Gibernau.

6-lap sprint race to finish was superb - lead swapped 1 million times (approx) and included the likes of Xuas on last years unsponsored Duke.

The hondas were awesome on the straights, but Rossi kept outbraking them lap after lap into turn1.

I saw the first time that he did it - was the lap after Biaggi just got past him at the end of the straight then slammed the door in his face. The thought crossed my mind that he wouldn't like that much...

Monkey-man? Surely still monkey-boy?

BBC 2 didn't even show the end of the race (if they did I missed it) when the red flag came out I thought great just enought time for a spin in the shower, I got back to the TV 15 min later (5 min before the re-start) and it was EASTENDERS REPEAT. :censored: :censored: boy was I mad.

Working in TV myself I know that the schedule is more flexable then to come out of a live event, in the middle, to show a repeat.

But what I did see was great... Rossi getting passed everytime on the streight but then stuffing it up the inside on the first corner..

If you want to see some good examples of heel and toe in use, visit racingflix and have a look around for any of the best motoring races they have hosted there. Not only do you get to see a race between road cars, but the cameras in the footwells also show the pedal technique

In the winter I decided to start learning this and now, it's pretty easy when driving around b-roads or tracks. Downshifts are so much smoother :)

Diffucult part is in Leon that the throttle-pedal is so far to the right, that with my small feet it was at first quite hard to hit the throttle while braking. Especially with racing shoes.

It's quite possible to do with our Fly-by-wire cars, guess when the clutch pedal is pressed you can use both the brake and throttle at the same time? You can try it when stopped in the lights for example.

I think the ECU only gets upset if you try and drive the wheels with the engine and brake at the same time.

I found the way to make heal and toe work in the leon is to only brake with half of your foot, i.e have half hanging over the right side of the pedal. You can then easily roll your foot on to the throttle. It can be easy or hard depending on your shoes and you should take extra care if the soles of your feet are wet.

Not got the technique nailed just yet, i some time find myself over or under reving the engine, or under or over braking when coming into a corner :drive2:

Jeah, with over reving it's quite funny effect when you are trying to slow down and you car just jumps forward.

It's actually a lot easier on the track with high revs and full braking than on the street.
