SPT and insurance?

Just something that crossed my mind as I sit here and try to write a project propsal for tomorrow (look at the time :eek: )

What, if anything, have all you sh1t pipe technicians told your insurance company?

"Any modifications to the car?"

"Well, it's got some sh1t pipe from B&Q where the airbox should be, does that count?" :D :D

Insurance companies will come out and check your motors if its involved in a shunt and likely to be laid up in a garage pending repair.Its unlikely if you bump it and can continue running it.A remap is about all you can get away with at the moment but Insurance companies will/are now checking them.If theres any suggestion of excessive speed or injury payout then watch out and god forbid if you kill someone and the reason????

When you apply for cover they ask if its a standard UK car ie mods.And if they didn't then check your policy booklet 'coz it will in there.

Upshot of all this is if you claim or someone claims against you and they determine its modified and undeclared then you will be deemed to have no insurance.Couldn't imagine being sued and losing it all let alone the big fine/being insurance blacklisted
Most specialist companies will cover mods and its cheaper for the cover than it is for the mods.

My point exactly.

If you have an accident and have loads of sh1t pipe in your engine bay, insurance company will say it's modifid, regardless of extra performance.
Just wanted to know how people describe their 'mods' as it sounds a bit silly!

Ah. But the OEM Ibiza airbox pipe drags loads of dust and sand etc into the airbox. Not good. I simply modified mine to pick up from a different point, removing the contamination.....A reliability mod. Reliability = safety. Safety = reduced claims. I am infact saving the insurance company money. MUHAHAHA....I spin you not :p

You of course realise SEAT's employment guarentee plan? Build em so they need lots of warrentee work. Hence keeping people employed at dealers...A masterstroke :p
