View Full Version : Uprated clutch pack for Ibiza 6J 7 speed dry DSG?
As the title says, would you perhaps know of anyone designing an uprated kit for the 7 speed dry DSG? Would this allow for an increase in torque on the box without causing damage to the clutch? This box is really limiting tuning options and there are many of this with these cars now. Just don't know who to contact about it......... :(

Email me the transmission code you have.
I have uprated clutches for the DSG box found in the 3.6 Passat and 3.2 Audi TT but depending on your code maybe we could cross reference and see what is available.
The info in the Maunual is as follows:
7Speed DRY clutch
6J1 8N7
IBIZA1.3BITUR

Ok yes I have a clutch pack for that. Just waiting to hear back on the seals.
Send me an email about it right away.
Will e-mail you in the morning mate.
This is exciting! Didn't know anything had been developed for it as yet.
The is defo for the dry clutch 7 speed?? What sort of Nm rating does it handle?

So far it has been tested to around 450 Nm of torque with the conversion.
If we can get 10-15 people on board then I will definately make it more affordable for the Ibiza guys as DSG upgraded clutches have been a very niche market due to not enough people needing the power.
What motor is coming with the 7 speed DSG box? 1.8T or 2.0 TSI?
Its actually the 1.4TSI which puts out 190BHP ish and 280Nm (My rolling road figures). The stage one takes them to around 220BHP and 300Nm. Currently stage 1 is as high as we can go so having 450Nm extra to play with will enable Stage 2 and 3 conversions. Currently the DSG is the weak link holding people back.
I know the Greeks (Guy on here running a Hybrid on standard clutch) and the UK will be interested. It may be niche at the moment but the gear box is the only option on the new Polo Gti and the Fabia VRS and it is also available on the 1.4TSI Sicorcco so I can imagine since these are brand new the demand will certainly grow over the next 6 or so months.
Ibiza Cupra
Ibiza FR
Leon TSI (Optional)
Polo Gti
Fabia VRS
Auda A1 (TSI models only)
Scirocco (Optional)
As you can see from the list above there are certainly a fair few applications using the same box in Europe.
Does the DSG software need mapping to accommodate the different bite of the clutches or is it a direct swap?
Also out of interest what cars in the US use the 7 speed dry clutch? I know that APR did do some testing on it a while back.

A software reflash will most certainly be needed .
We wont have the 7 speed dry clutch unit here for a while (unless it comes in the TTRS). I will see if I can get my hands on one of the transmissions in the coming days . We have the means to develop clutch packages and can get software if necessary. The issue is the demand...
mmmm so basically the kits you have are for the wet box then? I will try and find some schematics or something on the dry box and mail it to you then.
Put my name down when this is developed very interested!
The TTRS is the brand new WET clutch 7 speed. Ours is the smaller lighter dry clutch 7 speed.
I'll put some feelers out on the Fabia and Scirroco forums. The demand will be there as its an essential mod for anything over Stage 1.

Got the emails.
Thank You.

Looking @ the schematics, this is alot more simpler than the DSG units I am familiar with.
I guess that's why they can't handle too much torque hahahahahahahahaha. We shall now patiently await your feed back.

I wouldnt expect them to handle that much torque considering it is the same concept as a manual 5 speed 02J gearbox. All the load is being placed on 1 single dry disk vs multiple wet units like the DSG gearboxes here.
....all I have to say is ouch:D
LOL. Exactly, now you understand the need for an uprated pack to get more torque out of it. Without that any performance modding past stage 1 is really not worth it :(

Hopefully I can get the clutch pack coming over this week.
Interesting stuff. Thanks for your fast responces INA. The next stop after this would be find a company with the skills to fit the clutches and then map the box.

Fitting the clutch should be very straight forward and not labour intensive. As for the software ....that I will leave up to you guys. Revo UK maybe?
Definately REVO still awaiting feedback on the flywheel and clutch ordering issue.
Yeah revo UK have a test Cupra anyway as well as having maps out for the 6-speed DSG. Forge and ITG now have decent induction kits and miltek are bringing out an exhaust soon. I'm sure with clutch packs and the aforementioned mods Revo could come up with a rather dangerous Stage 2+.. or accidently drop a K04 in there for 270BHP + in a 1175kg shell. Yes please: D
If these are going 5sec 0-60 and high 13’s with stage 1 your talking low 4’s if the power can be put down. That’s Insane!
The cost of this pack is the thing I am most worried about. £1500.00 is a huge amount of money............................

It wont be 1500 GBP...
If we can upgrade JUST the disc without changing the flying , etc then it will be in the 400-600 USD range.
Sounding better. Did you get my mails then? Can order clutch and fly wheel seperately so i am sure flywheel will not need replacing. Flywheel schematics I sent are definately for mine so hopefully we don't have an issue with this. They seem to be exactly the same as the Audi A3 tsi engine which I sent you too.

As soon as it arrives I will have it dismantled and analyzed.
