No kick in third gear

Just a general question about my Ibiza. I find when I put my foot down right to the floor on the accelerator in third gear the car seems to do bugger all nothing, Seems like theres no power it doesnt even sound like its trying to do anything any ideas?

My Car is a Seat Ibiza Mk2 1.6GLXi. So its not the most powerful of cars but then not the slowest.

Oh and how come the speedometer only goes up to 120mph when most cars go up to 140mph on the speedo.

The only way you're gonna get above 120 in Guensey is to drive it off a cliff so don't worry too much about that.

As for the acceleration - does it pick up better in 4th or 5th? if so then you do have a big problem and it might do you well to stick a post in the Technical problems forum bit at the top of the Forums home page (does that make sense? not sure how else to explain it!) as we have a few techinical gurus that should be able to shed some light on it.

Hmmm by the time of got to forth ive run out of stright road but it picks up alot faster. But since the speed limit is 35mph its not a bad thing but when ur giving a 1.1L citren saxo a chase it dosnt help if u get left in the dust :(. (I did overtake in the end but that was halfway down the road)
