Whats this about holding auto on the heater screen or something?! can someone explain more !!
It will give you ten more steps for the temperature setting.
L1 L2 L3 L4 L5 - between LO and 18
H1 H2 H3 H4 H5 - between 28 and HI
and what do these extra steps do then?

Cant really see what the point is though cos the variation of temperatures is perfectly fine as it is.

No, i think it isn't. 28C is not that warm but HI is quite hot for me. H3 is perfect for my needs. Just press AUTO button for some secs, until H1 (or L1?) appears. I'm not really using this feature however, as it resets back to normal every time you turn ignition off.
As far as i'm aware this function for when the cars are sold in countries with the imperial system.
Done this on my ibiza by holding down the auto button,now instead of:
LO,18,19,20,21,22,23,24,25,26,27,28,HI
it goes:
L1,L2,L3,L4,L5,H1,H2,H3,H4,H5
So in essence doing this you will lose two increment steps,but it helps me as I only ever use a few of the desired temp settings anyway.

Just out of interest does anyone have idea why the coldest temperature setting on cars with climate control is 18 degrees c but this bear no relation to the temperature. 18 degree air is nice and warm but on climate control its freezing!

Due to the air conditioning mate-its not just a simple value of temperature you are altering,it brings humidity,air movement etc all into the equation by pressing this little button on your dash.This can vary due to external factors the vehicle is present in.
Also the accuracy of these things aint to good,and at the end of the day it is just a sliding scale you are altering by messing with the temp settings.
A air conditioning engineer will be able to explain this to you in more detail.

If thats the case that then they should do away with the degrees C bit and just have numbers instead. Maybe they think its impressive to have an actual temperature!
