this winter has been a particularly rough one on my new alloys, while cleaning my leon yesterday i noticed that the alloys were covered in small tar specks which would not come off with anything i had , and also little discoloured marks around the wheel, does anyone here know of such a product to revive my only 2 mths old rims???/

that is spooky! I was going to ask this as well. I cleaned mine a few days ago and noticed the same small specks. I use wonder wheels cleaner and it does not seem to work. I think changing wheels during winter is a bit extreme as some people do.

I once used a cleaner which is intended for stain removal around the home that the g/f purchased from John Lewis. I spotted it in the cupboard and on the back said can be used for tar etc so I thought I would give it a go on the alloys on my Ibiza cupra as we had just moved to a new development and had same problem. It worked a treat even on the lower wings where there some spots on there to. Cant remember what it was called but it was in a small spray can about 4" tall and smelt of orange with a green top.

Do a search for Mr Wax Wizard and his Famous MC2 Wheel Cleaner, he makes his special home brew cleaner and uses orange and grapefruit peel (environmentally friendly too) and it's the business.

Mine look simillar but I have lots of small specks of what looks like tar which come off if scraped by a finger nail. I have found that Autoglym do a tar remover so it is off to Halfords tonight!

That stuff looks like it does a great job. Shame you have to buy it by the tanker load!

Halfords! if they stock it, it must be good;) I think it's brake dust not tar, the picture isn't that good but they had a black residue on them. MC2 is very good and you can dilute it to suit how bad you car is or how bad the weather is.

Mark is also a top bloke and is happy to talk to you about any requirements you have, lots of tips too including the infamous Peanut butter on black trim tip etc...

While your in there look at Halfords super trick bolt on spoilers too;) :D

As well as the spoiler I want to pick up some of those washer jets that light up, a nice set of neons and a shiney exhaust trim! :D :laff1: :rotfl:

Cool

But don't mention nenons we'll get Cupra-Rog on here with his dodgy red underbody nenons.

i used the meguires alloy cleaner spray. it says to leave it on for around ten - 20 second but i left it for a minute and had more specs left. i hadnt cleaned the wheels in near 2000 miles and the were gleming. the best way to get any reasonable preassure on dirt i found it to take the wheels of one by on.that way to can clean the wheel arch, caliper, grease the hub and properly coat the tyre with tyre shine with ease.:)
