View Full Version : Vag-Com (Sssssh)
Whats garages opions on VAG-Com being used by us.....
Its just I have some interesting finding's (From my Alhambra) & want to be 'honest'....
Husseys used to be jealous of me using it. they wanted to run it themselves.
:D
But they were open for discussion though.... So I would'nt have minded...
so what are your 'findings'???
I dont see why they should bother, it is your car after all!

I told one of the stealers I have previously used that I had a print out of all the faults, and I expected to have them resolved upon my return..
..they managed all but one
fantastic - my dealer would be stunned if I did that :D
What did they not manage to fix - something on the climatronic?
(I have two faults on a/c - intermittent temp flap and intermittent fan speed or something like that)

How did you guess..
Since then I've figured that pretty well everyone has the climatronic motor flap thingy problem as standard so haven't bothered persuing it
Ah but mine isnt the climatronic AC....
Does anyone know what channel to use to log induction temp...on the VAG COM.
requested boost vs actual is channel 11
MAF is channel 3
but I can't seem to find one for induction temp..

Does anyone know the answer..... Paulo is such a useful chap it would be a shame not to try & help him - Plus I can understand what he's trying to do & maybe even benefit from it myself...:D :D
moved to new section
going back to the original question...
this is something ive always wondered.
mines going in tomorrow for MAF to be replaced (warrenty) when i called them to tell them it had gone, i didnt dare say i used VAG COM to diagnose it - i just told them "i knew"
Mark
Some dealers get shitty about it, others really don't care.
I remember MK got the arse with smithrc when he left his lead plugged in the car!
Well I hope Kings (Soton) dont mind! - Coz thats who will have it on Saturday.. & I do hope that these faults can be fixed - Anyone understand what they mean.... I have a rough idea...

I have been thinking exactly the same with my Cupra R and using VAG-COM to read the fault codes.
The first time I went into the garage and said "There is a Lambda sensor fault on bank one sensor one, thats why the light is coming on" :) They basically asked how the hell I would know that, I said a "friend" had diagnosed the problem with some software.
After the 4th trip back to them I got pissed off with them "resetting the fault codes to see if the problem came back" and decided to give them print outs of the faults at various stages (10 mins after the SEAT technician "reset" the codes, before dash lights come on etc.) they seem ok with it. When I phoned them up after my dash light came on again I got put through to a technician and I mentioned I could read the fault codes off, he just asked me to provide a print out when I came in with the car. I did, not that it helped them, they just ordered a new part and asked me to come back when it came in!
Basically I think they are ok with you using it. Just don't go into too much detail, just say that you can read the fault codes. They just get a bit shocked that you can read these codes... it takes them months of traning to be able to do the same thing ;)
yeah - i think they would understand - but maybe just take a few times to get used to the idea
i told them the same as you - a friend diagnosed it for me and he didnt even question it. i may one day let on i know more than i say, but then agian acting dumb is quite a laugh to see what bull crap they try and feed you!!
