Hi

Just joined this ace site.

Can anbody help? I have a new style Arosa 1.0 S (as much as I could afford!!)

I am looking for any body styling tips and parts that are available, who supplies them?

I like the look of the central exit exhaust and I have fitted OZ 15" Vellas with 195/45/15 tyres, I would like to lower the car slightly, what is available?

so many questions

Got any answers??

Seat supply a rather tasty roof tip spoiler which stops the back end looking like a van. The seat chrome grill kit tidys up the front end on my car but i don't know how it would suit other colours.

All of the side skirt kits that fit the lupo and the orginal arosa also fit the new one.

Hey kev,

Am I right in thinking you've got the 16v [centre exit] exhaust and lowered suspension? Not quite sure what you meant... Anyway, I wanted to know where you got each from and how it affected your warranty? Also, what about the cost?

Cheers,

Hi Hindey

No I havent got the exhaust, I was wondering where to get one from, I got 40mm springs from German Car company 0870 6060391(speak to Matt Binyon) they cost about £120 but are TUV(german standard) approved so should cause no grief. I am still on the trail of the exhaust, as for warranty I am not sure??

If you have any info let me know.
cheers

Oh right, cheers for the info on the suspension! How does it handle? I find the standard 1.0 S suspension OK, but obviously it leans a fair bit ;) Do you get any rubbing with the standard wheels? Also do speed bumps give you grief with 40mm drop?

Anyone know how much drop is on the standard 16v? Its not that much I'm pretty sure (my brother has a 16v)...

As for the centre exit thing, I e-mail flapper (Amethyst SEAT parts guy) and he said that the 16v bits will come out when the Arosa RACER comes out... Which is when?

I've had a look for the "tasty" roof spoiler on the .co.uk, .com and .de SEAT sites, but I can't find it anywhere??? Even looked on vw.co.uk to see if you could get it for the Lupo, no joy

Anyway, cheers for the info on the suspension!

No worries Hindey

I have a Seat accessories brochure with the roof spoiler in it, I am at work just now but will e-mail the part number when I get home. It is shown on the old type Arosa but am assured it will fit?? price given is £250 fitted and painted by SEAT, so could be bought cheaper?

I have 15" alloys with 195/45/15 tyres and have no probs with rubbing etc. I have no speed bumps up here in the far North so cannot answer that question? only sheep sleeping in the middle of the road!!!
cheers

:) Thanks very much!

Yeah it will fit, the old Arosa is the same from base of the windscreen (scuttle?) up, and for most of the mechanicals. Good job they changed the ultra-shit interior though!

£250 does seem a tad steep doesn't it? All well, tis the price we must pay. Arosa (SEAT generally) bits seem a bit rare, as you can tell. All well :(

£120 suspension or £250 spoiler? Arse. Either wont be happening until summer anyway, so I've got some time to think about it! Need job... stupid A-levels... hmpf

Anyway, I'm still on the look out for the exhaust... I'll try and steal my brothers when he's not looking :D

Has anyone done anything performance wise to their Arosas yet? i.e. induction kit or chip? This is purely out of interest, because the insurance for such things is a little off putting aged 18 and a month. Just wondered what sort of performance (if any) you could eek out of the ickle one litre engine.

BTW, kev, what colour is your car?

kevmacleod
12-02-2002, 14:56
I suppose that's one advantage of being an old git like me!! cheap insurance!!!!

My Arosa is Flash Red,devil: I used to have a Seat Leon 1.8 20V but split with my girlfriend and the car had to be sold!!::(

I am the only one in my town with an Arosa and it turns heads!!

I think once the tuning companies get the info on the new Arosa bits will be more common and cheaper!!

I know JE design have a new body kit coming out, check JSB sport website.

I was planning an induction kit but not sure what is available??

Hindey
12-02-2002, 16:05
My Arosa is one of two, and I've not seen the other for a while (my brother lives in Harpenden). I get gawped at quite frequently with "what the **** is that" expressions. It's great for a standard 1.0 car!

The JE Design bodykit sketch looks shite, the Arosa Racer kit looks far meaner, however I can see obtaining one of them as being a bit of a problem :D

As for induction kits, anything that will fit a Lupo / Polo / old Arosa will basically fit, I'm told. SJB has got one on their site... www.superchips.co.uk also has a chip for a 1.0 Polo, which would be interesting...

Do you find your Arosa is really really shite in fourth?

jon.od
12-02-2002, 19:38
Rubbing doesn't seem to be a problem i dropped my 16v 35mm on 16's and have no problem with some of the meanest speed bumps in the land (bricks cemented to the road at my rugbby club). The only problem i have come across is bump steer at speed the arosa want's to follow anything it can in the road.

Hindey
13-02-2002, 13:30
35mm! Here's me worrying about a 40mm drop on a standard S! And on the boggo-14s! I've got no plans to change the wheels, cus I rather like them. They're a fairly unique style (except on other Arosas ;) ) and they came with the car. £500 for a set of wheels? No, thanks!

Anyway, cheers for your e-mail about the picture jon.od, I'm wondering if it's the same spoiler as on the Lupo GTi? That car has a very funky bodykit =)

This is quite an impressive thread for the Arosa forum. Seems like more and more bits are appearing for the car.

13-02-2002, 14:35
Hindey,

Just for info mate, the roof tip spoiler looks the bollocks, the price is a little steep however, but if you work at it you can get it a lot cheeper from SEAT themselves. On my Arosa i got it down to £180 at a local SEAT outfit, fitted and painted!

Has anyone got any pictures of the fabled spoiler? I cant find it anywhere. Damn internet.

Anyway, I'll save my pennies up. I want my car lowered, the spoiler and a centre exit exhaust... And then I'll sell it and buy a 16v

Thanks for the input!

Oh, just remembered something.

Has anyone ever seen the staff Arosa in Max Power? Yes, it's an old Arosa, but what's it got? A 16v exhaust, on a 1.0. How and where did he get it!? (Yes it definately is 1.0, it says so in the issue he decides to sell it).

Anyone got back issues of Max Power?

I have a picture but is in the brochure, i will get it scanned and give you the part number at the same time, will be tomorrow though, it does look very smart, not like some of the examples that the pug 106's and corsas that are driving round my town!!

From what i remember about that car it is not actually a 16v exhaust but a similar looking centre exist exhaust for the 1.0 Arosa. Cant remember where he got it from but remember if you want to fit this that you will probably need a rear valance that has a cut out for a centre exist exhaust as well.

jon.od
13-02-2002, 18:40
Hindey, the lupo GTi spoiler isn't as deep as the arosa one, they come into work all the time and we had a measure up. The arosa spoiler also fits around the high level brake light where as the lupos high level is fitted into the spoiler. To much time at work you think?

Lupo Gti is going to be a doner car though the chrome tail gate lifts and bonnet lift are next on my shopping list along with the twin exit exhaust.

jon.od
13-02-2002, 18:42
is anyone going to the track day in their arosa?

Hindey
13-02-2002, 18:51
Wow, you're project sounds pretty cool, jon.od! I've only seen a Lupo GTi once in the flesh (and even then that was at a high rate of knots, the GTi going even quicker) and I didn't think the tail pipes we're quite as cool as the oval. Obviously personal choice...

So the Arosa spoiler looks better then? Excellent... Just gonna leave myself wide open for more shopping trolley jibes. All well. :D

Still no picture...

No, not going to a track day. "Hey, everyone, my Arosa does 0-60 in the time it takes you to do 1/4 mile!".

No, ta :p

Hi there!

So what a picture is this you spoken from in this thread!?

I'm wondering that there are aren't so much body styling kits for Arosa / Lupo in GB!?

And I think your prices are quite heavy!?

So thats cool in Germany there are as much as many tuners got styling kits and so on.

Hope that the winter would go very fast, can't wait to put on my summer alloys (is that the right word?).

I hope you understand my english :p

That's the spoiler, incase anyone else is interested. Cheers kev for scanning it and sending it :) According to the catalogue the part number is SSP414 and the price, fitted & painted is £239.99

That's the picture we were talking about Rene  And your English is fine! We keep the same alloys on all year round here...

I must say the spoiler looks pretty good... would be better to have a "full car" picture, would it not? Still, niggles. Roll on summer, roll on money.

I think i will be investing in one of those spoilers within the next few weeks. Also getting some of the new style rear lights as my Arosa is one of the older models.

Hindey
14-02-2002, 11:29
The new style lights are rather funky, aren't they  £100 each I think from a main dealer, though fitting is a bit tricky on the old models. I read the issue of Max Power where Simon installed them to his Arosa, and he said they required minor adjustment.

Anyway, good luck!

Gray

Yeah I know two tuner more than JE-DESIGN.

Visit:

But on the second one the styling kit is not online, but I have seen pictures of it.

Maybe I'll find them another time!?

Speaking of the Arosa Racer....

Does anyone have any ideas when it comes out? My sister is looking at getting one, but all I can find about them is the prototype pics, which obviously will change a fair bit...(i.e. no rollcage, rear seats back in place...)

Any info is appriciated!

I thought about getting one, but because I've heard nothing about them at all for months......I defected..... I'm picking up a new Lupo GTi tomorrow.

Cheers for any help,

I cant find anything on SEAT.com about the Racer....maybe I'm just not looking in the right places?

As for the rollcage/lack of back seats looking like its staying, they will make a big mistake if they make it a permanent fixture

I love the idea - looks f*cking ace in the back with the spare tyre. However, after doing alot of research into a the LupoGTi, most people sold the car because of the lack of boot space and lack of rear space in general

The racer has no boot to speak of, and no rear seats. Be OK as a second car, but people will just find it inconvinient.

I hope I'm wrong. They should do it as a limited run, though....

I have just recieved an e-mail from AB styling (at home) with 3 pics attached of their body kits for old style Arosa, but there is a spoiler on there that looks like the SEAT one, they are charging £85 plus £14 delivery to the north of scotland, would need to be painted though. Could be an other option.

i thought I had e-mailed it to work but has not arrived yet?? when it does will let you see the pics.

Have you visited the Dietrich website?? some nice lupo/arosa stuff on there!! I think the site is www.dietrich-tuning.de??

ModdedCars: Goto the www.seat.com English website, click on SEAT S.A and it's "Arosa" at the bottom. You make valid points, but then why not brand it Cupra as opposed to RACER? It makes no sense otherwise. I'd be surprised if they released it as RACER with the backseats and all, it just doesn't fit with the branding. Not only that why would VAG want something to compete with the Lupo GTi, already in a niche (£13k for a piss-tiny car?)?. No, SEAT are slanted on motorsport... hence the stripped out "racer" look. Track day blast it looks like.

kev: Yeah e-mail them to me and I can put them on here if you like.

ModdedCars
17-02-2002, 22:10
Hindey, I actually heard from somewhere like AutoCar or WhatCar that they are going to call it the Cupra...but seeing as most of the stuff that appears on there is usually 50% rumour, I wouldn't be suprised if its wrong.

You say why would they release something to compete with the GTi....well, you can say that about alot of the SEAT/VW stuff. The whole Arosa range competes with the Lupo range.....the Ibiza competes with the Polo....Toledo is similar to the Bora.......

SEAT/VW ....Its just a different arm of the VAG range, with a different "twist" on different models. SEAT tend to be cheaper, but higher/similarly specced because it doesn't have the branding of VW. All this is due to change with the VAG "split" what with SEAT now becoming the sporting "arm" and VW the luxury "arm" (or something).

And why people go on about the GTi being expensive. If you ever driven/seen/studied one, you will understand that they are far from being "expensive"
OK, for the same price you can get a Cupra - leather, air-con, 1.8turbo etc etc.....but compare it to something thats in the same market - i.e Pug 106GTi, Saxo VTS....its £1500 more expensive, but lets just look at the differences....its a hell of a lot better built for a start - 106's rattle, this I have experience of (I owned one) and things don't "fit" right. No crappy build quality with the VAG range......You get better spec - Xenon lights (themselves expensive) and better seats, much better stereo equiment, higher safetly levels, aluminium panels etc etc.

All of which come to more than the £1500 extra price. I'm not slating the Pug - my 106 was great, but it certainly wasn't in the same league as this Lupo....

Gray
18-02-2002, 09:43
Kev - any chance you could send on the 3 pictures that you were sent of the arosa bodykit to gray@freeserve.com

Hindey
18-02-2002, 11:33
ModdedCars: The Lupo GTi is niche, so SEAT aren't going to impose on that territory, they'll just find another niche. Go through all of VAGs cars and the more specialist models rarely compete with each other- RS4, Golf 4Motion, TT... none of which have a direct competitor. Sure, the S3 is Golf 4Motion range, but i'ts more expensive with a completley different engine.

£1500 more for a car that belongs in a class below. The Lupo depsite all its electro-gadget bodykit wizzardy is still a class below Saxo, 106s etc, simply because a Saxo and a 106 is young family market, where as Lupo/Arosa is more of a second car / couples kinda motor.

The Lupo and Arosa are small cars, whose back seat's are questionable anyway. The sort of person who wants a RACER is hardly 40-something married with two kids is he? No, he'll be young single with money, hence the lairy arches, gaping bumper and ostentatious white trim. Either that or prescribed 40-something with his Leon Cupra / Golf GTi in the garage.

Not that it makes any difference at the end of the day. I still want one.

Jon.od, have many problems with 16's on your Arosa? Catch much? affect the steering lock?

I heard about 215/40/16's on a Lupo, which run the same arches as an Arosa, but did you have to stick with 195's?

Oh, and have you got any pics?

jon.od
20-02-2002, 20:31
The steering lock is fine. Get some rubbing on full lock in reverse when the old girl is ladden, how often is that.

Tram lining seems to be a problem at speed though, it's not that bad just means the 1 finger driving has to cease on the motorway at about 90 mph

The biggest problem is all those ****ING KERBS!!!

The side wall offers less protection than a johnny thats been used as a pin cushion in it's former life. only kerbed my n/s front twice but that's to much.

You probably could go to 205's but the tire place recommend 195's

ModdedCars
20-02-2002, 22:51
Is it lowered? If not, be interesting to see what you could get away with before you get rubbing problems....

The reason I asked was because My sister is looking at getting an Arosa 16v, and when I got some 16's for my GTi, she could have my 15's, but theyre 205's, might be a bit wide. Ah well, she might have to have 16's too!

And 1 finger driving at 90mph? lol....wouldn't feel too safe doing that! :D

kevmacleod
21-02-2002, 07:15
I had 205's fitted to my 15's on my Arosa but found they rubbed on full lock, I put these on my Beetle and put 195's on and have had no probs, although the rims now don't seem to have as much protection from the rubber (no pun intended!!).

My arosa has been lowered 40mm as well.

Kev

jon.od
21-02-2002, 08:44
mine has been dropped 35mm. it looks like it could go a lot further from first glance but if you place your hands around the back of the rear wheels theres only about 2-3mm gap from the inner arch.

Could take it out but the road noise would be unbearable.

Gray
21-02-2002, 08:46
I had 215/40s fitted to my arosa but found that they rubbed badly at the front when turning and they were far too wide for the rear arches. I am now running 195/45s and have found them to be a lot better but they still catch slightly on full lock. However, Im still going to have a go at lowering it 30mm in the next few months.

GZA
21-02-2002, 17:57
If anyone is interested i'm running 17's on my little beast on 205/40 profile. Took some work though the rear arches have been rolled and beaten with a rubber mallet and the fronts well where do i start the plastic inner wing was removed the arches were cut and rolled and the rear of the arcges by the bulk head were beatin in with a sledge hammer. Lets put it this way it does take a lot to make them rub now.

Put a pipercross induction kit on it on monday. in all honesty i prefered the sound of the drilled air-box but it still sounds nice.

It's been dropped 40mm and i'm thinking about getting some custom side-skirts made up with a custom side exit exhaust coming through the skirt on both sides

The next thing i am seriously thinking of is a turbo and some serious ICE

ModdedCars
21-02-2002, 19:47
GZA - would love to see a picture!! Have you got any??
Be interesting to see the car-to-wheel size ratio - a small car like that with monster rims!

Cant be arsed with all that arch modding stuff, so I'm going with 16's, any rubbing is bad news in my book, but sounds like you've got it sorted....

And has anyone got ANY pictures of Arosa's on 16's? This is the only one I've seen, its Simons from Max Power, (Mk1) Arosa 16v that I saw at Max Power 2001:

Ive had the glass replaced already but it looks a bit stupid now as all the other windows are tinted.

They were even more useless than i expected. When i first moved the car i hadnt even had time to tape up the gaping hole where a window would be and i ended stopped in a lane of traffic with a cop car in the lane next to me. I actually wanted the stupid w@nker to pull me over as at least it would prove that he is doing his job and keeping an eye out for suspicious vehicles but he didnt give a shit and just let me drive off. Before i got the car back home i had passed a further 3 cars and not one of them paid any attention to a bright yellow car with a window smashed.

Still, i did get a crime reference number off them...as if that is going to be of any f*ckin use to me at all!!!!

Arousa - Im sure you'll be going
GZA, Modded Cars, Jon.Od, Kevmacleod, etc - Any of you fancy making the trip to Yorkshire?

When is the Doncaster show?

Have you got any info??

Gray

Doncaster show is the first big car show of the year. It takes place on Doncaster Racecourse every year and this year it is on the 13th and 14th of April. There will be quite a lot of people from this site attending.

For more info have a look at www.donnyshow.co.uk

Hello Mighty Arousa

I very much doubt you will get in at this late date unless you get a space on a club stand. The SEAT Drivers Club might have a spare space, the guy to email is Simon ******* (simon.*******@seatdriversclub.co.uk). Dont think he is sorting it out though until after the upcoming Track Day.

Thinking about making the trip up. Did anyone go last year fearful of it being like max power live good for about 10 mins!

Gray
28-02-2002, 16:10
I went to it last year and it was pretty good. There is quite a lot going on other than just a few cars being on show and it takes quite a long time to look round everything.

I know, i'm not using it as much as i should, this new Arosa is ace to drive and it's warmer!!!

I have just ordered surfboard rack for it, so will use that to go to the beach.

Going to be working on the Beetle this weekend, then i'll probably change my mind.......so Mirren may get to drive it yet!!

Putting the twin carbs on it, i got a smart distributor over from USA, got vacuum and mechanical advance.

How's the Cupra been going??

Hi Kev

If your interested in the spoiler then go to http://www.tepper.nl/index2.html
To find the picture click on the VW logo on the left hand side and then scroll down to the bottom.

I must say that it aint cheap and is special order only so it can't be sent back, but having got mine fitted the car sure does get a lot of looks.
so just ask if you want any more pictures or info.

Arousa.

You finally getting old or what Kev (warmer). How's Cupra? last tank 20mpg, when I get home aiming to beat the Scoobs record of 16.5mpg. Failing that I'll just waste my money on that dam R/C Helicopter I got for christmas @ 16£ per Gallon.

Thanks Colin (GZA)

Anyone else like to comment on the spoiler???

How about Moddedcars?, well I saw your message on the lupoGTi forum, and from what I can tell it looks like you hate it or your after one for your car, but I have to say that it won't fit because of the standard spoiler, I tried it on my brothers GTi, sorry.

The only way around this would be to get some custom mounts, to fix it on top of the standard spoiler.

Thanks

Arousa.:)

ModdedCars

I'll be totally honest with you.

I hate that spoiler. I hate any spoilers like that, Cossie Whale tails, big Japanese Wings......I'm the 'subtle' mods type.

Other than that though, its a nice car. Perfectly sized wheels, just the right height, looks tidy.

But like I said to Hindey, each to your own. IF you like it, thats all that matters.

And aint nothing touching my car :) Not bodykit wise, anyway. Externally, its a set of 16" BBS RK's, and fully adjustable suspension. Oh, and a full stainless exhaust......The rest of its going to be under the bonnet!

Hindey
05-03-2002, 16:08
I have to agree with ModdedCars, I don't personally like spoilers like that. I thought the SEAT supplied one looked better.

However, if you're after turned heads and double takes... you might just achieve that :D

ScottyP

I have to say I quite like it, first off I wasn't sure, but after looking at it a few times I do (but then you haven't seen the whacking great thing on the back of my car!)
Could do with a couple mad mods to tie it all in, but I expect you've got that in hand.
Love that colour too! Very custom for a standard colour.:D

Which is bindon road as i cant bloody well remember. What other plans have you got then. I have seen a rather tasty kit for the new arosa which im planning on getting.

The easiest way to see if i have modded my car anymore is to go down east reach as my car is normally parked on the left hand side by the chip shop/ lucky dragon

i'm looking at quad lights, rally style lamp pod (when it finally arrives!) slightly redisigned front bumper, smoothed rear panel - and a proper ICE install, rather than it all being chucked in the boot!
Bindon road is opposite side of town, by Taunton School where Kings Renault (spit!) dealer is.

GZA
08-03-2002, 10:48
Will just being turbo'n the 1.4 lump as it is a darn sight easier to do that than an engine transplant. And the bodykit was a JE Design kit which i have just found out this morning is in the price list but they are not going to make it till 2003. BAR STEWARDS. Get the boys of RPM looking for another kit that i can get now.

I have Matt at German Car company looking for alternatives as well for me, he supplies JE Design stuff.

Guess the car is too new:mad:

GZA
08-03-2002, 11:06
talk about bummer as its looks s**t hot. Got a mate making some custom skirts and a custom exhaust for me. Thinking of side exit coming through the side skirt. As for kits though it really pisses me off that companys make kits for every other SEAT apart from the Arosa. You can get Lupo kits but the Lupo looks shite anyway so it makes no difference what kit they put on.

Colin(GZA)

:(

Who's bolting the blower on for you? Are you going to change the ratios in the box about cos i think there a bit short!

ScottyP
08-03-2002, 11:39
Have you lot tried PSG, or Venom motorsport for Kits?- they both did one for the Cordy when I was looking round (which is damn unusual!) and they also do a lot of kits imported from Europe, other than that - why not modify one to fit? Esp, with RPM at your disposal GZA, the worlds your oyster?

jon.od
08-03-2002, 11:49
I know the skirts of the lupo and MKI arosa will fit the new shape. The bumpers look as though they will fit because it is only the lower portion does any one know if my hunch can be confirmed.

BR Motor services (01926 451545) are the uk dealer for Postert.

GZA
08-03-2002, 14:41
the JE DESIGN skirts look crap so they were never going on that is why i am getting custom skirts and yes scott with having RPM in the company the world is my oyster if only the oyster would give me the money to pay for it all.

I have just recieved a catalogue from ADM tuning in Austria??

It has some nice Seat body kits in it, ranging from Arosa (both types), Ibiza's, Cordoba, Leon, Toledo and even Alhambra!!

I do not know if there is UK distributor for this stuff?

Their website has the pics, all in Austrian/German??

www.adm-tuning.com

I forgot that i had tried to fill in their catalogue request!! it arrived only with Herr K Macleod and my post code!!

It would be interesting to know what the cost of these kits would be via UK distributor.

hey lads i just recently bought a standard 1.0 arosa, havent decided what modifications iam going to do, any recommendations?? its Yellow, looks very attractive. any recommendations for insurance companies?

I have fitted the Seat roof spoiler I got it painted the same colour as my car (Flash red), this makes the back end less slab like, also lowered springs (about 35mm) and 15" OZ velas which look fine, this has made the cornering better, less roll although the ride is harder due to low profile tyres, I also have installed an induction filter, which I remove for servicing by Seat (warranty). Inside I have a Panasonic cd head unit (red dispaly to match dash lights etc)with amp and cd multiplayer in boot, I have upgraded the existing door speakers and made a stealth shelf in rear with 6x9 speakers.

Hope this helps
