View Full Version : Rev limiter
Does anyone know if there is a rev limiter that comes into effect when the car is stationary with the handbrake on and in neutral? I noticed whilst defrosting the other day I can't seem to rev the car above 2500rpm. When moving the car drives normally and revs freely. Se lux 170.
I'm sure someone has spotted the same thing on a recent Ibiza, perhaps it's now a standard SEAT thing?

It's designed to stop you winding up the revs and ripping the clutch out.

It is the ESP system that prevents the engine from going to high revs. Turn off the ESP and you can rev the to the red mark. At least that is how it works on my ST Sport CR 170.
If you're defrosting you shouldn't be revving it because all the engine's cold!!!
