I have a question regarding the ESP on the Exeo.... As you may be aware, we have had a bti of snow in some areas, home to say the least has had quite a lot....

Now, my driveway is initialy quite steep for the first 10 feet or so, so as a rule I clean any snow and ice off the drive, plust around 3 feet of the lane to get the front wheels on before the slope, and salt it well, just to get the car back up the drive and into the garage.

This afternoon, I came back, turned into the drive, onto the 3 feet of clean lane, but there was a little ice on it, and I am sure I felt the front wheel spin for a short time on this ice... now, my old Leon you would feel the TCS/ESP kick in and try to stop the spinning wheel, but I did not feel this, or see the lamp on the dash illuminate..... ... I am sure that the ESP should stop this, or was the spinning not sufficient or long enough to stop this?

Anyone had any experience of the Exeo ESP in this cold snap?

Mine has done a great job this winter, but it doesn't kick in lightly. I've had a few instances like you describe, where I can feel an individual wheel losing traction, but ESP does nothing. It's only when the car needs assistance does it kick in, so if one wheel struggles but the other three are fine and the car is carrying on it's normal path, it doesn't seem to kick in.

That suits me just fine :)

Just seemed strange that it allowed the wheel to spin.... I though the whole idea of TCS/ESP was to stop it... well that's how it worked on my Leon :)

If it is still ice/snow outside the house in the morning I may try to spin the wheels to see if it kicks in.... if not may need checking out...

Given that you say you had the wheels turned, as you turn into the drive, a speed differential would be expected between the inner and outer wheels, so the sensor probably wouldn't pick this up unless it was excessive.

As you say, your best best is to spin the wheels with the steering straight to activate the esp - something I do when it's icy anyway, to see how much grip I've actually got. Traction control probably wouldn't come into it unless you were gassing it up the drive, which is doubtful?
